Article source: Jeffery S. Poss, Architect

The hut is located in back corner of a residential garden, nestled in a mature landscape.   For the designer-owner-builder, the experience of its creation was a retreat both from work and into work – the hands-on construction process in itself was cathartic.

HOUSE WIND in Jalisco, México by Agraz Arquitectos

Saturday, February 1st, 2014

Article source: Agraz Arquitectos

Every project has a connotation that makes it different, unique and unrepeatable. The Wind House has two unusual features, the first one is that it is in a suburb that has not been built yet, having no neighbors whatsoever, and it faces the stunning Primavera Woods. The other one is it’s calling to be a house where kids will grow, the youngest a newborn and the eldest only four years old. And this is doubtlessly the real job, to create the scenery where this kid’s childhood will take place, and therefore several aspects are handled differently.

MUSEUM OF WISCONSIN ART (MOWA) IN West Bend by HGA Architects and Engineers

Saturday, February 1st, 2014

Article source: HGA Architects and Engineers

The new Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) in West Bend, Wisconsin, designed by Jim Shields, FAIA, Project Lead Designer at HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA), achieves a subtle balance between architecture as art and architecture as a neutral setting for art. The crisp, triangular geometry of the 31,000-square-foot, two-level museum moves from a glass-enclosed entrance at the southwest corner to a wedge-resolving point at the opposite end, where a glass curtain wall reveals an interior stairwell. Clad in custom, horizontal, modular fiber-cement panels in three shades of white, the surface of the building projects a soft and gentle variegation of color.

Saturday, February 1st, 2014

Article source: CUBE design + research

The client asked us to create a home that was modern, green, affordable, and designed for aging. The property is a beautifully wooded half-acre lot in Carrboro. We responded with single-level living that builds in accessibility clearances and easily adapted amenities for aging. To keep the home affordable, we kept the plan compact and simplified the details. The form and planning of the house shift to mediate privacy from neighbors and views of nature at every turn.

Interviews and dynamic online exchanges with company employees were conducted to assess values , needs and expectations. Three principal focal points emerged from this process: digital culture, the brand and brasilidade (Brazilian identity).
