Article source: 3LHD

Amarin Apartment Village is located north of the city of Rovinj, surrounded by lush vegetation. Next to the existing 272 apartments, the old substandard ones were removed from the site and 190 new were built in their place. The new buildings location is partly determined by the existing pedestrian paths that continue into the new project; and by the plots gentle slope from north to south. The Village was conceived to have a high quality intimate outdoor space that accompanies each apartment as well as a comfortable interior.

Batin House in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Estudio Galera

Tuesday, March 25th, 2014

Article source: Estudio Galera

An almost-level corner lot, within a pine forest in the north of Pinamar.  A vacation home to be rented to different users. Thus, a program of flexible needs. The house was projected around three conditions: to be lifted from the natural level terrain in order not to modify its original contours, to occupy the biggest amount of frontage length at Fragata la Victoria Street in order to increase the apparent size of the house, as well as closing off the views from the street into the heart of the site (preventing the private areas from being exposed to the street) and to reduce the costs of future maintenance.

ALAMILLO HEALTH CENTER in Seville, Spain by Fernando Suarez Corchete & Javier Terrados Cepeda

Tuesday, March 25th, 2014

Article source: Fernando Suarez Corchete

On the outskirts of Seville abound open residential blocks. These are called polygons, where H-blocks and interstitial spaces without identity proliferate. In the 60s and 70s, with the pressing need for housing for the new population coming in from the countryside, the creation of recognizable urban spaces between the blocks was not on the agenda of the designers. The blocks were repeated indifferently, sometimes parallel, sometimes terraced, sometimes diagonal, neglecting the intermediate void.

CABLE CAR MERANO 2000 by Roland Baldi architects

Tuesday, March 25th, 2014

Article source: Roland Baldi architects

The cable car is situated at the margins of the city of Merano and connects the city with the nearby skiing Area of Merano 2000. Autonomous in presence, the design consists of two terminals – one in the valley and one at the summit – that maintain a common architectural language through palette and form. Made transparent through materiality and colour, the layout and scheme of the station are intuitively read by its users.

District heating plant Chiusa in Italy by Roland Baldi architects

Tuesday, March 25th, 2014

Article source: Roland Baldi architects

The new district heating plant of chiusa looks like a big copper wing that comes out of the terrain.

The skewed roof surfaces create one dynamic volume, which seems like a shim between the viaduct and the old Gröden´s train line carriage house. From the main building’s entry you arrive directly to the visitors area, where a big glass wall gives visitors the view into the boiler house. To the west there is a wood-chips storage, to the east the main co-generation units; one stair goes to the first floor and creates a connection to the administration and toilet facilities.
