Istanbul Bilgi University seeked for the renovation of Silahtaraga Power Plant, a typical modern industrial setting formed between 1910′s and 1950′s, to be transformed into a museum, recreational and educational center. This institution covers a site of 107.000 m², between the rivers Alibeykoy and Kagithane, at the end of Golden Horn that had been the center and main scene of Istanbul for many centuries, that had been discredited and become worn from the end of 19th century to 1990’s and that has started to glare once again with many projects after being rediscovered in last 15 years.

Suntro House in Oaxtepec, México by JORGE HERNANDEZ DE LA GARZA

Saturday, June 14th, 2014

Article source: JORGE HERNANDEZ DE LA GARZA

The Suntro House is located in the residential area of Oaxtepec, Mexico among delightful natural surroundings, with the natural slopes of Tepozteco to the north and the highway leading to Haciendas de Yautepec to the south.  The lot is oriented to the northeast with a splendid view of Tepozteco. The sunlight falling on this white volume creates striking images produced by the whimsical movements of shadows and reflections.  Even in the height of summer, the responsive shape promotes cool interiors by allowing a continuous circulation of air while maintaining a presence that optimizes the potential of its setting. The exposed concrete floor creates a sense of continuity between interior and exterior of the building. The uneven topography was utilized by placing the pool at street level and lowering the house at midlevel.

Saturday, June 14th, 2014

Kuroiwa and Yoshitaka Ikeda in order to design their first european venue of Le Clos restaurants. Their first establishment just opened in Paris next to Montparnasse Tower.

Voluntarily sober and strict, the space imagined by Daï Sugasawa notified itself by a minimal decor in relation to the chefs’ philosophy and gastronomy. The space was designed to be clean and quiet canvas for the chefs’ creations. This attention to the chefs’ inovative process provides clients with a unique tasting experience.

KBJ share space in Kokubunji, Tokyo, Japan by I.R.A./International Royal Architecture

Saturday, June 14th, 2014

Article source: I.R.A./International Royal Architecture

We report that our new project “KBJ” has completed.

We renovated a fourth floor of the building near Kokubunji station as a share space.

Because of the good equipment, rather than building everything from nothing, our challenge was to produce diversity of rooms with less operations.
