CINEMAS ALESIA in Paris, France by MANUELLE GAUTRAND ARCHITECTURE

Saturday, June 21st, 2014

Article source: MANUELLE GAUTRAND ARCHITECTURE

In 2011, the Gaumont-Pathé group decided to restructure the existing building to improve the quality of its cinemas, as well as to properly address the needs and greeting of customers. The general objective of the group is to progressively renew the image of its movie theaters, often very urban and installed on magnificent sites but suffering from a sometimes dated image.

The goal is to make them into beautiful cultural spaces, lively in daytime as much as nighttime and flexible enough so that they can host a diversified program, mixing Film with other cultural events: the image of the Movie Theater in the City must be totally renewed.

BBP Arkitekter have converted an office building dating from 1964 in the center of Copenhagen into the new headquarters for the danish jewellery firm Trollbeads, who are known for their glass and gold beads.

TDA HOUSE in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, México by Cadaval & Sola-Morales

Saturday, June 21st, 2014

Article source: Cadaval & Sola-Morales

Where are the limits of materials? Are they in their apparently implicit properties or in our capacity to expand them?

A fresh house for extreme weather that surpasses the standard limits of comfort of the city-dweller; a low-cost house with minimum maintenance; a house for any number of habitants, flexible in its uses and configuration; a house that can open up completely to the exterior or close in on itself. A house which recycles almost all the remnant materials used for its built; a beach house that can be built in a distant corner of the world.

Article source: Szen Molnar Tamas

While the apartment was under construction the bachelor who owns the place fell in love with the large uninterrupted space, but he also wanted to be able to separate the traditional functions. Maintaining large spaces and separating rooms at the same time required a mobile solution. This bachelor pad has 2 more special features: the amazing panorama and the fact that the sun goes around in the space. These also led to unique interior design solutions.
