The project of the Elisabeth and Helmut Uhl foundation has been realized thanks to a restricted international architectural competition held in 2009, which saw the participation of fifteen architectural teams from Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Germany. The jury was composed by prof. arch. Thomas Herzog, prof. Andrea Vidotto, prof. Vittorio Magnano Lampugnani and prof. arch. Hermann Kaufmann. The aim of the competition was to design a building able to host the activities of the homonymous cultural and research foundation.
Overlooking the Gulf of Trieste Verdemare residential complex, designed as a new way to experience the city in the name of eco-friendly and high standard of quality. The elements of the architectural concept gave rise to a modulated envelope created by continuous bands of parapets, like ribbons that link with the surrounding area.
The challenge of this competition was to provide a combined car park for 1500 cars with exhibition and multi-functional areas.
We decided to use an automated parking system which provided huge savings in terms of GFA and allowed us to present the cars as if exhibited in a giant “shop window”.
The client commissioned ova studio to prepare a detailed master plan for a residential compound in Monrovia to cater for expatriate workers. this included 18 prefabricated villas and a pool house, for which we produced a detailed package for construction. The site is located in the hill of the mountain which can take an extensive view of Omura Bay in Nagasaki. Main concept is to harmonize buildings and surrounding natural environment without destroying original natural landscape.
In order not to destroy sloping land, I made basis protrude from flat terrain and designed one part of house floating from ground and extending in air. Also I spread a planting net and performed planting of a lawn. By this way, I harmonize the house and surrounding natural environment with floating house in natural terrain.
‘Casa en los Conejos II’ is the result of a reflection about how to cope with a huge plot of land because of its particular topography. It has been opted for just one roof covering different rooms and putting them in order and demarcating the outdoor spaces that are going to be used. Showing the „natural relief‟ is one of the final premises of the project.
