DI_Telegraph in Moscow, Russia by Archiproba

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014

Article source: Archiproba

The Central Telegraph is located on Tverskaya street in the center of Moscow. Architect Ivan Rerberg constructed the building in 1927, and it took only several decades for it to become an architectural monument. The Telegraph has an unusual perimeter structure with both modernist and constructivist features; its surprising geometry and broad glazing distinguishes the building against a background of the Stalinist empire style of that era.

House for green, breeze and light in Ota city, Tokyo by Yaita and Associates

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014

Article source: Yaita and Associates

This residence is in the residential area called Denenchofu which is located about 20 km to the west of the center of Tokyo. This area was developed about 90 years ago, based on the ideas of Eiichi Shibuzawa–to build a garden city on the hill ever blessed with gentle breezes and abundant vegetation.  To maintain the philosophy of this environmental formation, rules for the conservation of green, stricter than those of the other residential areas of Tokyo, were stipulated, such as requiring houses to be set back 2m from the roads. These rules have continued to be observed to this day.

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014

Article source: Neri&Hu Design and Research Office

In their design for Le Meridien hotel, Shanghai-based firm Neri&Hu envisions a new landmark for Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province. Henan, once the ancient political, economic and cultural center of China and home to many Emperors, today welcomes the international traveler. To showcase Henan’s history through its Arts (of Literature, Nature, Food, Theater, and Pattern) the architects conceived of the building as an “archive” of new and old artifacts that becomes a point of discovery for residents and travelers alike.

May/September : Eskenazi Hospital Parking Structure Art Facade in Indianapolis, IN by Urbana Studio

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014

Article source: Urbana Studio

This project began with an interest in challenging the typical notion of the parking structure as an unappreciated infrastructural typology by transforming the new Eskenazi Hospital parking structure into a binary, synthetic terrain. The effect of a field of 7,000 angled metal panels in conjunction with an articulated east/west color strategy creates a dynamic façade system that offers observers a unique visual experience depending on their vantage point and the pace at which they are moving through the site.

SoHo-Nagoya in Japan by Kotaro Horiuchi Architecture

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014

Article source: Kotaro Horiuchi Architecture

The relocation of the bookkeeping agency empied a local in Nakaku, Nagoya, which was renewed to become a place for living and working.

The living space was designed to occupy the minimum possible area. In fact, the bookshelf is the main piece of furniture of this renovation. The shelves evolve as the wall goes by and become a table and then a bed. The latter has two functions and it serves as a working space when it’s not used for sleeping. The curved layers make the whole more unified since only one object is used. Also, the curves create a harmonious space suitable for work and everyday life.
