North Austin Master Bathroom Remodel in Austin, Texas by Paula Ables Interiors

Friday, September 5th, 2014

A young Austin couple was tired of their dark, dated and drab bathroom. They hired us to help them create a more relaxing, spa-like bathroom. The existing bathroom was lacking in storage and did not function for the couple. With the couple being above average height and with no need for knee space we brought both counter tops to the same level and added a tall linen cabinet to define their spaces. We incorporated outlets into the linen storage to help hide their daily products. Final results were soft, natural colors and surfaces.

The solar rain tree oasis in California by michael jantzen

Article source: michael jantzen

The Solar Rain Tree Oasis is being developed as a public gathering place pavilion for the drought stricken state of California. The ideal location for these large pre-fabricated steel structures is in a public park, but they can also be placed into any public accessible location. All of the structures are designed to support ten large solar cell arrays that collect energy from the sun and convert it into electricity, which is sent into the local power grid. In addition, each of the structures is formed into a circular shape that is capable of collecting rainwater and directing it into storage containers that are buried under the structures.

The simple form of the building is divided among window placements on the façade to let maximum amount of sunlight inside. The south façade of the building, is covered with balconies and porches which provides nice shade in summer and allows the sun to fill the interior in winter.
