HOUSE NO.7 in Isle of Tiree, Scotland by Denizen Works Ltd

Friday, September 12th, 2014

Article source: Denizen Works Ltd

We were commissioned in October 2010 to produce a design for a new house on the site of a ruined, B-listed black-house on the Isle of Tiree on the west coast of Scotland. We developed a concept that comprises two houses, a Living-house and a Guesthouse, linked by a Utility wing. Together the elements combine to create a bold insertion into the landscape while reflecting the character and heritage of the island.

Spring in wanchai, hong kong by Joey Ho Design

Friday, September 12th, 2014

Article source: Joey Ho Design

Spring is a newly established learning center for children that eschews the fairytale cliche of its genre: space filled rainbow colours, cartoon characters, toys and stuff, which is often the result of superimposing an adult’s perspective onto the space. For this project, the designer tried to look at the picture from a child’s viewpoint, and concentrate on the learning experience as a whole. The aim is to formulate a space that caters to children’s both physical and psychological needs, and ultimately help them achieve their development and learning potential.

Part to Whole in Korea by HG-A | LIVE COMPONENTS

Friday, September 12th, 2014

Article source: HG-A | LIVE COMPONENTS

Everything in nature is made up of components. It starts from basic components like atoms and molecules, and grows to bigger components like tissues and organs in order to construct a ‘live’ body. The artificial environment is quite the same. It all starts with basic components like points and lines, and grows to surface and finally construct a space.

Loft ESN in Esslingen, Germany by Ippolito Fleitz Group

Friday, September 12th, 2014

Article source: Ippolito Fleitz Group

The Palmscher Park in Esslingen is a former army barracks from the late Wilhelmine era. It was transformed into a residential complex at the turn of the millennium and has become a very popular residential area thanks to its attractive hillside situation, only ten minutes walking distance from Esslingen town centre. When an agency moved out of a loft space at the short end of a two-storey block, a family with two small children sought to transform the site into their new home.An open and spacious living space with differentiated living zones and tantalising visual perspectives was created across 400 square metres.

Ölhafen Bridge in Raunheim, Germany by schneider+schumacher

Thursday, September 11th, 2014

Article source: schneider+schumacher

The new white oil terminal bridge is an elegant, curved structure. It spans the 70m wide entrance to the oil terminal harbour in Raunheim with a spiralling access ramp. This sculptural bridge design stems from Frankfurt architects schneider+schumacher.

The clients for the bridge appointed Schüßler-Plan as structural engineers. The bridge’s location is, on the one hand, influenced by the industrial character of the harbour, and on the other, by the River Main that runs parallel to it, with its attractive embankment and mature trees. The bridge will primarily be used by cyclists and pedestrians.
