With this design, Allen International have utterly transformed the retail banking experience in China from the traditional, service dominated operation that has not changed in decades, used by all the financial institutions throughout the country. What BOC now has is a branch that for the first time in China allows staff the platform to provide truly customer orientated service, and along with specialised, retail orientated training provided by Allen International puts them far in front of any of their national competitors.

One of the key items that was requested was the development of BOC omni channels , Allen International has therefore created the branch to showcase Bank of China’s development of its digital technologies with the launch of a new sub-brand ‘Smart Banking’ that now allows them to partner with China’s largest mobile technology providers.

Digital banking was targeted as one of the key elements that Bank of China wanted to showcase within the new pilot. A dedicated segment called Smart banking was created by Allen International to incorporate these items under one sub brand. A series of tailored table units were created for the staff to educate customers on new digital products and services with the opportunity to introduce 3rd party hardware retailers within the branch integrated with the banks latest digital communications. The introduction of new bank machines from Head office such as VTMs were also branded under this sub name and the main branch digital communications themselves were screened within key customer focused locations in the branch.
