LEESER Architecture is pleased to announce that the EM Quartier luxury retail complex in Bangkok has been honored with the 2014 Asia Property Award for Best Commercial Architectural Design.
The 2,700,000 square foot, $800 million mixed use retail development is poised to become a world class destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Working with The Mall Group – the developer responsible for the largest shopping center in Southeast Asia – LEESER Architecture led the Concept Design, Schematic Design and Design Development, and collaborated with Silverwood Landscape Design and Arup Lighting, and a large local team of architects and engineers.
EM Quartier will provide the city with a new shopping district that synthesizes dynamic architecture with the natural environment. The complex is comprised of retail and entertainment venues as well as an abundance of urban green space. The design features a 30-foot high open air garden overlooking Bangkok, as well as a pedestrian street and a five-story waterfall. Amongst the mixed use retail space are six stories of dining terraces atop a helical floor slab, and an eight theater cinema complex with an IMAX theater.
