The Hotel Vincci Gala is a four-star hotel with 78 rooms, bar, restaurant, meeting rooms, and various terraces, situated in a period building in Barcelona´s Eixample district. The design of the new Hotel Vincci Gala is marked by two requirements. Firstly, the obligation of the Monument Protection Department of Barcelona to conserve both the facade and a large white marble staircase in the inside of the building and secondly, the name of the Hotel: “Gala” referring to the wife and muse of the surrealist painter Salvador Dalí.

Hidden Flashes in San Jose, Costa Rica by Benjamin Garcia Saxe Architecture

Saturday, November 1st, 2014

Article source: Benjamin Garcia Saxe Architecture

A solid, natural, and warm object makes us question what is inside. Soft lines, symmetrical composition, plotted openings, and small rays of light peek inside. The thrill of slipping between pointillism in each sharp element contrasts with the tranquility and passivity of light reflected in its shadow; a double faced complexity.

Cascades of Lights in San Jose, Costa Rica by Benjamin Garcia Saxe

Saturday, November 1st, 2014

Article source: Benjamin Garcia Saxe

Framing and fading the view become guidelines for the imagination; where an escape from the city is built and transported into a fictional world that is dancing with the wind, and light plays absorbed by its threads that catch between their frames a changing landscape.

Renovation and Extension of the Zurich Zoo Foyer by L3P Architekten

Saturday, November 1st, 2014

Article source: L3P Architekten

The Zurich Zoo, situated on Zurichberg overlooking Zurich, is one of the most visited sights in Zurich. Due to the continual growing number of visitors, the entrance foyer was re-structured and adapted to current needs. In this process, the need to react subtly to the standing foyer, an excellent project from Dürig Architects in 1999, was applied. A complex, merged facility, embracing diverse areas such as the forecourt, counters, visitors’ centre, Zoo Shop, Zoo Café, volunteers’ centre and also including the station for the new zoo tram was realized in an all-out operation.
