La Botella Verde, “The Green Bottle”, is a new and casual bistro/store located in one of the hottest spots in Mérida, Saint Lucia’s Park. A relaxed atmosphere can be found within the revitalized space where you can enjoy a glass of wine with their appetizers.
Over the past year, Mérida’s historic downtown in Southeastern Mexico has enjoyed a comeback. Former colonial homes and XIX and XX century mansions are being restored to their former glory and Saint Lucia’s Park is part of that. With its historical features such as towering arches, the building was erected in the XIX century as a place to gather and enjoy what the city had to offer. With the passing of time, the building was abandoned and closed until a couple of years ago when its new owners restored it and offered spaces up for rent; most spaces were filled by restaurants, hearkening back to the building’s origins.

The project comprises 44 dwellings organised within two volumes. A driving force in the design process has been the preservation of a pure and simple material expression. Rigorously composed meetings between wood, concrete and steel ensure the maintenance of a sense of whole.
The site area for the project takes place on two different levels on an abandoned soccer playground and an higher square. The building is positioned parallel to the main street in front so to align with the context grid of the city and along the north side to avoid shading on the site.
The automotive showroom is situated by the main gateway to the city Herning in Jutland, Denmark. The municipality of Herning and the client both wished for a showroom diverging from the stereotypical and one that simultaneously would stand out as an architectural icon. The solution became a rhombic volume divided into two halves by a diagonal cut, creating a dynamic and lucid showroom facing the main road, contrasted by the stable mass of a service centre behind. Placed at the edge of town it is a building where interior and exterior collaborate around the meeting between city and nature, and between function and space.
