Sumit Singhal
Sumit Singhal loves modern architecture. He comes from a family of builders who have built more than 20 projects in the last ten years near Delhi in India. This is a building for Maritime Station in the port of Baiona, for lines of passenger ships operating in this area of Rias Baixas, located on a dam in the center of the port, between the village and sea. It is a construction that protects, that wrap, but allowing the user direct relationship with the outside without isolation of a privileged environment. The building is treated as a longitudinal street that runs through the entire building and their main entrances on the headwalls, but accessible by several points, allowing the user to move freely, at all time, and allowing a clear view of the berthing areas. The wood box, works as a large lattice and sun protection of the building, so allows a nice integration with the environment in which it is situated, setting up part of the landscape from a distance, on the approach from the sea. Until that time, Jose J. Santos, worked with other own Company since 1997 and he took part in 2001 to create Cid, Santos y Parga Architects [CSP Architects], Company with offices in Pontevedra and Santiago, in which Jose C. Mera collaborated with him since 2004. Jose J. Santos and José C. Mera, through Santos – Mera Architects, develop their activity in a diverse field from construction and urban planning, public and private, with several awards in competitions of architecture, publications and participation in conferences and exhibitions.
