Article source: CCM2 Architectes

This project consist to maintain the 950m² of the 1865 historical building and add an expansion of 3410m² for a project area of 4360m². The expansion includes three new courtrooms and new spaces for the development of all essential services and offices for the proper functioning of a courthouse in the 21st century. In a sober contemporary architecture, the expansion is designed to showcase the historical aspect of the existing building. The new courthouse will be the only one to offer all the services of the judicial district of Montmagny. To respond to complex operating criteria, an integrated design process was established to ensure the involvement of the client and all the professionals throughout the project development.

Concept of the Memorial Complex in Auschwitz II-Birkenau Concentration Camp by Arch group

Tuesday, March 10th, 2015

Article source: Arch group

70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz is an occasion to think again about those events and their significance for modern society.

Oswiecim (Auschwitz) is synonymous with the greatest evil in the history of mankind. What happened is so monstrously and bloodcurdling that does not fit into the average person’s head.

Suo-jae: The House to Uphold Myself in Seoul, South Korea by studio_GAON

Tuesday, March 10th, 2015

Article source: studio_GAON

This building is named ‘Suo-jae(守吾齋)’, which means ‘the house to uphold myself’. The Name ‘Suo-jae’ belongs to a house of Yak-hyunJeong – whose brother was Dasan Yak-yongJeong, one of the greatest scholars in late Choseon dynasty- as well as the title of a prose which was written by the scholar. The prose was written when the scholar visited his brother’s house and introspect about his life upon hearing the name. The poem is a masterpiece, making us take a look at ourselves; about the balance between confidence and prudence, and how hard it is to keep uphold ourselves

House Passage of LAndscape in Toyota, Japan by Masaki Ihara/ ihrmk

Tuesday, March 10th, 2015

Article source: Masaki Ihara/ ihrmk

This is a house for the family of three.
Tanada, terraced paddy field, widely appears to its south and the west. My first visiting of this site was in early summer, three years ago. Bright green and reflection of water of the rice field just after the rice-planting, natural sounds of breeze rusting the leaves of lemon trees and Magnolia figo slightly and sound of running water from the waterway had created comfortable scenery there. It was calm place and there was nothing to cutting off my view from the site.

A villa sited in the Tuscany countryside which is respondent to the requests of a young couple.
The shape of the project solves the great height difference from the street level to the garden, using a series of embankments at various levels which mixed stone and grass. The metallic roof (an oxidized copper roof) has its own life and its purpose is to lighten the structure of the ground floor.

The Interactive Sliced House by michael jantzen studio

Tuesday, March 10th, 2015

Article source: michael jantzen studio

The Interactive Sliced House is part of the House as a Metaphor series of public art installations that play with the iconic house shape in a variety of abstracted contexts, juxtaposing the house with other recognizable symbols. Minimal and conceptual, these structures are meant to interrogate the meaning and function of the house by exploring how simple interventions affect its interpretation. In this case, the intervention consists of a series eight segments (or slices) that make up the entire shape of the symbolic house. Two of the slices at either end of the house are solid forms except for a doorway located at the center, both of these slices are fixed to a concrete pad. The other six slices in between the solid forms are open frame silhouettes that can be moved on tracks (mounted into the concrete pad) back and forth in and out of alignment with the two ends of the structure. In this way, the entire shape of the house can be changed by fragmenting it in many different ways in order to form very unexpected spaces in and around the structure.
