Pacific house by Casey Brown Architecture

Tuesday, March 24th, 2015

Article source: Casey Brown Architecture

Clad in dramatic burnt timber, and the ochre tones of weathered steel sheets, this holiday house is sure to satisfy the family’s brief for a beautiful house taking full advantage of the natural features of the site.

The main living areas of the house soar out towards the panoramic water views, giving the house a dynamic and striking appearance. Large expanses of glass to the north capture the spectacular views to the Pacific Ocean, Palm Beach and the Barrenjoey Light House.

Izabelin House by REFORM Architekt Marcin Tomaszewski

Tuesday, March 24th, 2015

Article source: REFORM Architekt Marcin Tomaszewski

The Izabelin House is a two story mirror house concept that is formed of two horizontally configured blocks. The house’s lower storey is clad with reflective paneling. These mirrored surfaces appear as an extension of the forest floor, with opaque areas stacked above. The bottom level includes also a sheltered terrace in a shade of dark brown wood that matches the surrounding earth. The second floor appears to float above its mirrored base, a levitating box that will hover in the thick forest.

Article source: Mecanoo

Within the new station hall an undulating ‘vault’, which has been designed to evoke an “unforgettable arrival experience”, features a scaled 1877 map of the Dutch city rendered in blue and white. Columns wrapped in a mosaic of Delft-blue titles, also reminiscent of the colours of Delftware, one of the city’s most famous global exports. This project is having a massive press coverage around Holland and is turning into a tourist attraction as well.

Article source: Liong Lie Architects

The Bazaar in Beverwijk, The Netherlands, the biggest indoor market of Europe, is our client. The Goud souk (“Gold souk”) will be the new building for the gold dealers and goldsmiths, who now gather each week-end along the Goudstraat (“Goldstreet”) at the Eastern Market of the Bazaar.

The exterior is defined by a 35 meter long facade that explains the visitors in a glance what they can find here: all that glitters is gold! The entrance is clearly marked. Here, the ‘nugget of gold’ has opened up to provide access to the ‘cave’ where the real golden treasures are safely displayed.

25 Green in Turin, Italy by Luciano Pia

Tuesday, March 24th, 2015

Article source: Luciano Pia

A new house has put down its roots in Turin. Its structure is in steel and it looks like a forest where trees are rooted in terraces with irregular shapes, ponds  are crossed by footings and lush gardens cover the roofs. The building has been thought as a living forest, a house on the trees like the houses children dream of and sometimes build.
