esprit-N in Nara, Japan by Tsukano Architect Office

Thursday, June 11th, 2015

Article source: Tsukano Architect Office

This house was designed to be situated among the mountains of Nara Prefecture located in Midwest of Japan. The south side of the house place is connecting with the gentle slopes, we can see green valleys under us without any concern of people eyes. The client is a married couple having one child. They wanted to house that “living” by physically itself linked directly to the atmosphere, with fostering their kids. So, they planned the house which was pulled out from the mountain, as the solid blocks. The pulled out land exposes the soil surface on the top of the land, it includes the buds of the plants as well as life of the insects in the walls.

Neubau höhere Fachschule für Gesundheit in Luzern, Switzerland by Maier Hess Architekten GmbH

Thursday, June 11th, 2015

Article source: Maier Hess Architekten GmbH

The project seeks to initiate a pattern clearly identifying the hospital campus on Spitalstrasse. With already two buildings of about 35m height, adding a third one makes the pattern evident. An important benefit of the slightly higher than average structure is the – in our eyes very necessary – casualness of the surrounding space, that so could become more convenient and less tight.

Point Cloud to BIM for an International Broadcast Center by Hi-Tech Outsourcing Services

Thursday, June 11th, 2015

Article source:  Hi-Tech Outsourcing Services

Challenges

The client wanted us to detect and rectify errors in the point cloud with accurate BIM modeling within 24 days.

The total data size provided by client was about 185 GB & to work with such heavy data files was really a difficult task.

The input files were in the form of 3D scanned images in which few of the scanned inputs were not clear & some of the building data was missing due to improper scanning, leading to complexity of resurfacing and modeling.

The building area was large and also consisted of complex steel structure.

House in Ljubljana, Slovenia by GAO architects

Thursday, June 11th, 2015

Article source: GAO architects

We designed gentle, sophisticated and bright interior that expresses dynamic and optimistic character of the family that made the 120m2 atrium house their home. The entrance is small, but big enough to satisfy all the functional needs of coming home. The fingerprint on the wall symbolises entering ones personalised home. The living area has an open celling and combines kitchen, dining and living room. Although the living area is completely open it is defined by carefully designed areas that visually divide the space. Main social gatherings are at the kitchen counter and dining table with a cushioned bench that follows the line of the main wall. Oak partition between the kitchen and the area with soft anthracite sofa serves as a small spices garden. The main core of the space is covered with Wall&deco wallpapers with tree motives and is upgraded with Tom Dixon lights as a detail. Bedroom and other spaces follow the natural colour scheme and organic shaped patterns. The house feels fresh, optimistic and functional.

Quarter of Nations in Hamburg, Germany by Gerber Architekten

Thursday, June 11th, 2015

Article source: Gerber Architekten

The ‘Quarter of Nations‘ in Hamburg’s Wilhelmsburg district was created in connection with the IBA 2013 – a model intercultural housing project intended to house more than 1,700 inhabitants originating from 30 different nations. Gerber Architekten extended a traditional workers’ housing development with two new buildings that respond to the most fundamental elements of the existing architecture and reinterpret them by incorporating sculptural head-end volumes, whilst simultaneously reconciling them with the high energy efficiency requirements of a passive building. There are a total of 75 publicly-funded housing units, of different sizes and offering different forms of accommodation; they combine accommodation types suitable for single persons, couples and families, thereby ensuring an appropriately-mixed social profile for the ‘Quarter of Nations‘.
