Villa Sundsvedja in Dragsfjärd, Finland by Jenni Reuter Architects

Sunday, June 14th, 2015

Article source: Jenni Reuter Architects

Villa Sundsvedja is located in the Dragsfjärd archipelago.

The manor of Söderlångvik was formerly owned by Amos Anderson, a well-known patron of culture. Today it is a museum. In addition, the manor has an apple orchard, greenhouses, agricultural operations, direct sales and a cafe. The estate is owned by the Föreningen Konstsamfundet foundation, which had long been wanting premises to be rented to executives and their families. A beautiful plot was found by the shore about one kilometre from the main building.

THE HIVE PAVILION in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates by Rabatanalab

Sunday, June 14th, 2015

Article source: Rabatanalab

The hive becomes an integrative component of the current master plan “Ipogea”, developed by the city of AL Ain. The study proposes trees rendering the area a more attractive natural setting. Additionally we designed a pavilion which runs parallel to the highway limiting the spread of the urban encroachment. This pavilion becomes a venue for future exhibitions in a “nature-oriented” atmosphere. The pavilion is an hexagonal structure composed of aluminum ribs. The design takes its inspiration from the shape of oases and beehives functioning as micro cities within the pavilion. Each hex consists of a carbon structure covered with a Kevlar fiber (woven with geometric patterns) and a protective insulation layer. We keep the environment cool by a piping system designed to cool both the interior and exterior with fine-mist water spray. To contribute to the interior comfort, the floor is suspended and ventilated. The structure is extremely light and designed to be easily mounted; each hex is autonomous from a structural point of view and is removable since it is bolted to the lightweight platform that supports it

Saturday, June 13th, 2015

Article source: Chevallier Architectes

Context
The building was originally an old wooden shed in very poor condition – a strong candidate for demolition.
The challenge was to find ways to develop and optimize the spaces within a volume that could not be modified due to planning by-laws.

Article source: Baraban Design Studio

Residence is made in style of Italian region Toscana. It’s full of finishing materials, elements of interior and décor, all of which were specially selected in Italy, Germany, France and were brought to Ukraine. For example, the deer head, fringy with age-old tapestry of XIX century. As a result we can see the castle kitchen with a spit in the fireplace 1,94 meter height hand thrown from marble. Well on the square in front of the house also made of marble. Beams and ceilings are made of age-old oak timber. The walls of landlord’s bedroom are made of sheet-iron, covered wax, which combines with recherché textile Loro Piana. At juvenile’s bedroom the age-old icons live side by side with Roy Lichtenstein’s drawings.

Colombia_325 in São Paulo, Brazil by TRIPTYQUE

Saturday, June 13th, 2015

Article source: TRIPTYQUE

Situated in the Jardins, a neighborhood that is undergoing radical change, in an avenue of intense traffic, this building, facing north, appears as an organic incarnation of the urban and natural “aggressions” suffered by a tropical city. The noise, the insulation and the intense traffic are the building materials that feed this project. In spite of its important aspect, the building is not  blind or deaf, but was born from the energy of its context, and uses it to re-qualify itself, as if in a boomerang effect .

BeyondtheWalls

On the last path before the earth falls away into these , a small country house is tucked into a nembankment. Introverted on the edge of the cliffs, it protects it self from the wind sand the ocean spray. Inside, piles of book sares tacked in every corner and recess. The rhythm of the day is marked by the turning of pages and punctuated by the coming sand going of the house cats.
