Article source: Nils Holger Moormann GmbH The guesthouse berge is nestled in Aschau in Chiemgau, at the foot of the Kampenwand mountain and holds a unique charm. Those, who move into their quarters in berge, shouldn’t expect excessive luxury – but rather an inviting ambiance, natural materials, real art and a lot of attention to Detail. For those, who don’t regard themselves as chefs or require a little assistance, support is at hand from one of the berge chefs. Larger groups can sit comfortably at the long table in the large sitting room. All the food served is for the most part organically or regionally grown. His furniture is particularly synonymous with minimalist design, regional production and intelligent details. All these elements are reflected in his guesthouse. It does however offer a large selection of favourite literature in all quarters. When redesigning the listed building he focused on the individual character of each room. The historical substance was retained, where possible, and placed in stark contrast to modern, reduced design. The quarters are called Bergebude (mountain hangout), Kampenblick (Kampen view) or Gartenglück (garden bliss), which refer to their specific character. In winter the seats at the fi re in the large sitting room are highly sought after. In summer there is a sundeck and cottage garden for relaxing and chatting with the other guests. For those, who can’t sit still, there is a boccia green. And on cold or rainy days the small, comfortable sauna house in the garden is a popular place of retreat. As an autodidact and free spirit, Nils Holger Moormann has, from 1982 onwards, developed with a number of mostly young, unknown designers furniture which exhibits a reduced formal language and precise solutions to detail. The key thoughts are simplicity, intelligence and innovation, and these colour the company’s entire philosophy. From the company headquarters in Aschau to the purist design of FNP – a classic in its own right – and the unusual guesthouse ‘berge’, any new ideas and deliberations will certainly not be put off until tomorrow.
