The exhibition is located in the atrium among the laboratories of the Borouge Innovation Center; the atrium is now clearly divided into two parts by a vertical connection block.

Our idea is to unify these two areas through an interactive path that can catch the attention of all levels, from student to technician.

The basic module is the plastic pipe repeated several times and moulded to become a huge WAVE that contains all the information.

We choose pipe as a primary unity for the following reasons:

–  IMMEDIATE connection with plastics, whoever sees a pipe, thinks about plastics;

–  LIGHTNESS that makes the assembly very easy, no important structure is needed to sustain the whole element;

–  FLEXIBILITY, playing with different dimension and length of the pipes, we are able to create niches and shelves to house monitors and plastics products;

–  COST_EFFECTIVE, the material itself is very cheap and with minimum works the shape can be modified according to the future needs.

The path of the exhibition in the left side (details and contents are an example to be defined better together with the clients during execution phase) has been developed using the 4 main values of Borouge company: RESPECT, EXCEED, CREATE and FOCUS.

Each value has been associated to one of the most important subject for the exhibition and identified with a color as floor stripes and label:

–  Focus: Borouge as company (Orange);

–  Create: Plastics museum and new technologies (Dark blue);

–  Exceed: Products and applications (Yellow);

–  Respect: Sustainability (Green).

The items displayed appear not all in once, but they reveal them selves step by step. The visitors following the wave discover plastics from feedstock to end of life, going through how plastics are processed and recovered, becoming aware of why plastics can be considered a sustainable material.

On the right side the magic of the plastic continues with the work in the laboratories, text and video are there to let people understand what’s going on inside.

After learning that plastics can be sustainable in the “respect” section, following the wave, the visitors arrive in the activity area where they can choose one gift as memento of the day while drinking something from the bar, or learning more about plastics attending some speech in the conference area.

At this point everybody finally understand WHAT PLASTIC REALLY IS!
