Article source: Mitsuori Architects

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This renovation and addition to an existing Victorian home in inner bayside Melbourne responds to the changing needs of an active, growing family and creates flexible and relaxed spaces for them to inhabit for many years to come. This project includes renovation to the existing historical building and the addition of a double storey extension to create a multi-zoned family home. Aesthetically, the new building was to remind them subtly of family holidays to the beach.

Code Black in North Melbourne VIC, Australia by Zwei Interiors Architecture

Wednesday, October 7th, 2015

Article source: Zwei  Interiors Architecture

At 119 Howard, the focus is on the space as a stage in the theatre of life. Set in what was originally a mechanics workshop, 119 Howard st, North Melbourne is the next chapter in Joseph Haddad’s Melbourne coffee empire. The space is a warm tonal interplay of existing spatial elements with natural light and materiality, and uses residential references to create an environment that is a ’home away from home’.

La Quintaine in Chasseneuil-du-Poitou, France by atelier d’architecture King Kong

Wednesday, October 7th, 2015

Article source: atelier d’architecture King Kong

The town of Chasseneuil-du-Poitou wished to build a new hall for festivities and cultural events in a redevelopment area centred around the railway station. Designs for the new Hall had to respect the Technological Risks Prevention Plan implemented in the area. The building designed by King Kong was therefore positioned at a tangent to the outer perimeter demarcating this zone, oriented so as to limit noise pollution for those living in housing to the south of the plot.

VALERIA HOUSE in Buenos Aires, Argentina by BAK arquitectos

Wednesday, October 7th, 2015

Article source: BAK arquitectos

This work is the outcome of a process that began in 2004 with the construction of Besonias and Almeida Architects Summer House in the forest of Mar Azul.

The purpose was to do an intervention in a place of significant landscape value, an opportunity to propose alternatives for design and construction, considering caring of the natural environment as a fundamental premise. The answer was the proposal of a minimal architecture both in material and formal resources, not only as an aesthetic choice, but as an ethical principle of valorization of a wiser use of the resources available. This stripped architecture should be incorporated into the landscape with a will of belonging, seeking to join the existing reality.
