COUNTRY HOUSE in Lucca, Italy by MIDE architetti

Saturday, November 28th, 2015

Article source: MIDE architetti

The project site involves an old country house, built in 1887 in the immediate neighborhood of Lucca and a most recent farmhand’s cottage. The buildings are integrated in the countryside of Lucca and maintain its typical characteristics.Specifically, the buildings are located in a hilly landscape, between gentle slopes, where oaks and chestnuts lick the property. In this background, the renovation has been directed to both the maintenance and the enhancement of typical elements of the local architecture, such as exposed brick wall, stone of Matraia and chestnut wood.Pursuing this goal, and in full respect of the typical features, the components and materials used have been revised in a contemporary way, adopting the most appropriate construction techniques, in order to ensure the achievement of the best possible result.

Article source: MSWW Ministerstwo Spraw We Wnetrzach

Grand Oak House is a story in which a key role was played by the beautiful oak wood … Wood left a legacy by his grandfather … That it set the tone for the color and mood of meaning to the interior. Table of Elements woodwork and many other furniture – stores the memory of the people and the time that is behind us. And the contemporary environment of concrete, steel, gray and patterns subtly interacts with the past enchanted in oak jars. There does not end with reference to nature; both bathrooms and bedrooms are continuing a dialogue with nature. Forest, meadows and animals remind us of the continuity of our natural heritage.

Kki Sweets and The Little Drom in Singapore by PRODUCE Workshop Pte Ltd

Saturday, November 28th, 2015

Article source: PRODUCE Workshop Pte Ltd

Kki Sweets sells beautifully handcrafted Japanese-inspired French mousse cakes, and The Little Dröm Store offers art and design driven knick-knacks. And they share a space at the School of the Arts (SOTA) building in Singapore.

While the design brief is simple – the two brands share a storefront, and thus they need to retain their distinctive identities and yet not look like two completely separate entities – the key challenge is to create an appropriate work that meets the standards of the award-winning SOTA building, and to create something new despite the influence of such a commanding piece of architecture.

Article source: v2com

Montreal grew rapidly during the first half of the 20th century and keeping pace was the construction of neighbourhood schools, often designed by well-known architects of the time. A decade ago, a major revamping program was launched by the Montreal School Board (CSDM) to deal with the serious need of upgrading their building stock. One of the first schools targeted for upgrade and expansion was Barclay School, designed in 1930 by Gordon and Thompson.
