Gentle Genius in Altamura, Italy by Architects GG-loop

Friday, February 5th, 2016

Article source: Architects GG-loop

The city and its various parts can be seen as a music score, the edifices acting as notes played by different instruments simultaneously. A melody is created by, what the Romans used to call Genius Loci, the spirit of the place, the conductor of the city.

Friday, February 5th, 2016

Article source: Tectoniques architects

Canopy is something of a buzz word at the moment and like any buzz word is rather over used, popular because it refers to a certain notion of nature that harks back to the earth’s beginning. Yet despite this over use, this is exactly what comes to mind when visiting Tectoniques’ project in Givors, a town close to the city of Lyon.

Envisioning Tatlin’s Tower in JAKARTA, Indonesia by PHL Architects

Friday, February 5th, 2016

Article source: PHL Architects

Most cities around the world are facing environmental problems as a result of rapid population growth.
Industrial urbanization has also worsened the effect of an increasing population. To fulfill the need for more space, many forest and farmlands have been cleared for housing; hotel and resorts; high rise buildings and commercial areas, resulting in a poorer environment in cities and at large. With lesser farmlands comes a lack of steady food production to support the needs of highly populated cities. The loss of forests also increases global air temperatures and pollutants, deteriorating living conditions.
