Article source: Austigard Arkitektur

The interior spaces are sculpted to form a varied sequence of spaces, with emphasis on the changes between light and dark spaces as well as between open and intimate spaces. In a small house it is also important to pay attention to all the small “bonus” spaces, such as window sills for sitting in. The interior is all wood, ranging from dark pine floors to light beech walls.

Hamilton Public Library & Hamilton Farmers Market in Ontario, Canada by dpai architecture inc + RDH Architects

Wednesday, April 6th, 2016

Article source: dpai architecture inc + RDH Architects

The renovation of the Hamilton Public Library and Farmer’s Market was conceived as a design-driven opportunity to spur sustained urban renewal. A 96-meter long, continuous glass vestibule with LED lighting re-establishes the building’s relationship to York Street, while the interior executions are geared around elevating the library’s functionality to modern European standards. An emphasis on transparent materials facilitates a conversation between the library and adjacent market, which received a series of service upgrades.

“J” House in Cádiz, Spain by Carquero Arquitectura

Wednesday, April 6th, 2016

Article source: Carquero Arquitectura

The locality of Algodonales is in a landscape enclave favoured in the skirt of the Líjar Mountain, in the province of Cadiz, being opened visually in fullness towards the Pinar Range. Its historical town-center obeys an organic tracing imposed by the abrupt topography of the area, typical of the medieval Arabic urbanism of the zone, where the system of streets, free spaces and organization hospitalizes of the framework they are interlacing almost at random in conformity with the slopes of the mountain.

In this context, in the perimeter of the historical core, it begins to develop in the last decades an expansion of the same town, adapting the studding to a more rational framework where it begins to emerging a more identical architecture to the current importance in agreement with the popular architecture that shapes the urban center.
