New Access and Columbarium in Madrid, Spain by Muka Arquitectura

Thursday, June 30th, 2016

Article source: Muka Arquitectura

The local goverment of Lozoya put us in charge of the intervention in the closing and enlargement of the Municipal Cemetery. We had to work on the separating element between, according to Platon, the visible world and the intelligible world, that is, the earthly world from the eternal one. The half-ruined clay wall which needed to be repaired separated both physically and visually the two different worlds, as if both of them could be understood through the wall.

Expansion of the Stadio Druso in Bolzano, Italy by gmp Architekten von Gerkan, Marg und Partner

Thursday, June 30th, 2016

Article source: gmp Architekten von Gerkan, Marg und Partner

The trend toward dedicated soccer stadiums is also finding acceptance in smaller, previously multifunctional venues. As in the larger arenas, stands bordering directly on the playing field – without a gap formed by a track – create a tighter atmosphere even on a smaller scale and, with today’s demand for differentiated spaces, also represent considerable economic benefits for operators. The reason for the redesign of the municipal Stadio Druso in Bolzano is to further FC Südtirol’s efforts to comply with the Italian Serie B standards.

Casa Lineal in Lima, Peru by Metrópolis Oficina de Arquitectura

Thursday, June 30th, 2016

Article source: Metrópolis Oficina de Arquitectura

The main idea for this house was to create a concavity to get a controlled view inside the lot.

The house is a small tribute to the pursuit of Mies Van der Rohe, where the transparency and the inner courtyards  were held.

A white box, a habitat platform and the space generated between both elements, composes this project.

The box is separated from the base creating a large space open to the landscape. The white block contains the master bedroom, which runs through the whole front of the house, facing the sea, and the two guest bedrooms, located on the back of the lot. These three rooms are organized around a hall, which reaches the staircase, and also connects all three levels.

ST JOHN’S PARK PAVILION in New York by ON-A

Thursday, June 30th, 2016

Article source: ON-A

The development of a prototype as a pavilion in one of the parks in the district of Manhattan, is stimulated in a practical exercise exploring parametric structures that expand the vision of the possibilities offered by the implementation of this technology. This time the project is a public space that with his centrality and disuse, try to revalue this urban void not only with the presence of the pavilion. The global proposal includes urban furniture and pavements to emphasize the radial nature and geometry of the place. Also the pavilion responds to a three-dimensional mesh that is coded to coordinates and main axes where are sets the diamond geometry and the scale of the openings deployed as a protective surface taking as reference the formal structure of deployé.

The Maison des étudiants de l’École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) in Montréal, Canada by Menkès Shooner Dagenais LeTourneux Architectes

Thursday, June 30th, 2016

Article source: v2com

After four years of work, the recent inauguration of the Maison des étudiants de l’École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) unveiled a signature building which enhances an entire neighborhood in the Griffintown district.

Inspired by an icehouse that once stood on the site, the crystal-like volume is remarkably light, open and airy. The mixed-use program was unified into a singular sculpted volume, its offsets interacting in a refreshing way with the more sober and introverted campus buildings. The massing was carved out on its south and east sides to create space for a future park that extends inside the building’s public program, maximizing sunlight and offering the community an abundantly glazed atrium that showcases student life within.
