29 Pebble Lane in Singapore by IX Architects Pte Ltd

Thursday, June 23rd, 2016

Article source: IX Architects Pte Ltd

Presented with a long linear site of a archetypal terrace house, IX Architects was tasked to design a house for Mr. Choi, his sister and their parents. The house needed to cater to the different individual needs of the family members. Much time was spent in the first few meetings to understand the lifestyle and requirements of the family so that the spaces could be designed and customized for them.

Bazillion in Vilnius, Lithuania by YCL studio

Thursday, June 23rd, 2016

Article source: YCL studio

Old Town nooks, unexpected views, Basilian street incites for mystics and a kind of monastery austerity. The space is shared among two moods: timeless clay coolness in twilight and monochrome play of light. In the evening, the mystical hearth fire dissolves all mood contrasts and invites to rest.

Wings in Dubrovnik, Croatia by AVA – Andrea Vattovani Architecture

Thursday, June 23rd, 2016

Article source: AVA – Andrea Vattovani Architecture

This project was commissioned to us as a study by a Russian entrepreneur who worked in several countries but liked to relax in on the Adriatic see. Because of his good relationship with Austrians he decided to stay and now he is located in Vienna. Beneath his economic success, he is a man with many interests, supporter of the fine arts, especially classical music and contemporary architecture, very athletic, and very interested in technical matters. But of course the most important part of his life is his family, so he tries to spend as much time as possible with his wife and his two children. Because of his interest in architecture he came across to some of our designs in magazines and internet. He was very interested in the project we did for the Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation in Mannta, Finlanand he contacted us with the purpose of developing something on the same architectural language. He was right away impressed with the way we merge conceptual ideas into an architectural design.  After numerous talks about architectural theories and the exchange of several ideas and opinions, we were offered to create a study for a private mansion for him and his family.

Thursday, June 23rd, 2016

Article source: Antonini Darmon architectes

The project B5 Boulogne is part of the urban development zone called Seguin Rives de Seine near Paris. This area was formerly home to the monumental Renault factories. As a result of the delocalization of these factories, a surface of 74 hectares has been liberated. This new area named “Macrolot B5” has been divided into seven smaller blocks distributed around a large urban garden. Seven architects were selected to design seven different buildings, organized by an urban coordinator in charge of the Macrolot B5.

Article source: Goodfellow Communications

This extension and remodeling of a Grade II listed Georgian town house by Belsize Architects rejects a traditional brick extension in favour of a more contemporary design, thereby providing greater interest and allowing the extension to read clearly as a separate yet sympathetic addition.

APARTMENT SP in Ljubljana, Slovenia by SADAR+VUGA

Thursday, June 23rd, 2016

Article source: SADAR+VUGA

Apartment in the 19th century townhouse in Ljubljana is a place of opposites: it is both warm and cold, both soft and orthagonal. It is equally open and closed against its surroundings and both in contact and in conflict with it’s past. It is an interpolation of two different but visually connected ambients with contrasting identities and materialities: the loft and the salon.

The Ten at South Person in Raleigh, North Carolina by in situ studio

Thursday, June 23rd, 2016

Article source: in situ studio

The Ten at South Person was designed for a vacant site in downtown Raleigh. The project is a new housing format for Raleigh – modern, affordable, and possessing row house DNA. The design maximizes square footage at low cost, builds from defining characteristics of a surrounding historic district, and creates a healthy streetscape via stoops and the play of materials and relief on the street facade. The units sold in only six days at a price that was the least expensive per-square-foot housing offered in downtown in years. Despite its modern form, the complex is nestled comfortably within the neighborhood.

Villa Hogebiezen in IJsselstein, The Netherlands by EVA architecten

Thursday, June 23rd, 2016

Article source: EVA architecten

A contemporary addition between the original ribbon development. In the direct surroundings old farmhouses are alternated with houses from different periods that were built after the land consolidation. Since the various functions of contemporary houses are no longer in line with a characteristic farmhouse facade (wide front with residential function) this house has not been developed from this typology. We opted for the design of the roof shape to be positioned longitudinally along the house. This shape is derived from two monopitch roofs at which the lower point of articulation is elevated. In this way two domains are created on the upper floor, which gives the house a large degree of flexibility. Sleep – work combinations or parents’ – and children’s bedrooms can be combined in these two domains. Large voids create the connection between the two floors. In this way the roof shape is experienced in various places on the ground floor. The roof is covered with natural slates. Sharp folding lines provide the transitions of the different roof planes. To be able to feel the mass of the house we opted for a concealed gutter as a transition from roof plane to house front. The facade is made of a blended grey stone.
