Les enfants Rouges in Paris, France by Ubalt architectes

Tuesday, July 19th, 2016

Article source: Ubalt architectes

In this typical 17th Century flat located in the heart of the Marais, three working axes have structured the work :

– Within the 36 m2 space, there will be a bedroom, a dinner-area, a lounge, an office, a kitchen and a bathroom.

– There will be an illusion of a larger surface by visually lengthening the flat.

– The space will be transformed while keeping the character of the old…

Nature Concert Hall 2016 in Zalenieki manor, Latvia by DJA (Didzis Jaunzems Architecture)

Tuesday, July 19th, 2016

Article source: DJA (Didzis Jaunzems Architecture)

Nature Concert Hall 2016 is designed as an art installation made from 10 000 paper bats. Levitating cloud with gradient density over the musicians serves also as a screen for video and light projections. To achieve maximum lightness and levitation effect art installation is suspended in 3 paired electricity columns far away each from another. The volume of the cloud is referring to flocking bird and bat created dynamic geometries that can be found in nature. Black & white video and light projections, specially composed music are continuing the interpretation of dark world of the bat.

The Drift House in Northern Canada by The Open Workshop

Tuesday, July 19th, 2016

Article source: THE OPEN WORKSHOP

With insufficient core populations to support public structures, the typology of dwelling has attained the highest level of refinement within the Arctic’s unique climate. Pre-WWII indigenous Inuit Housing Types had embedded connections to the local landscape, its orientation, materials and fabrication, while embracing the nomadic Inuit lifestyle. With zero ecological footprint, these temporal dwellings employed opportunities from the landscape and atmosphere to form a complex shelter that negotiated thermal performance, local materials, soft construction techniques, program and cultural values.

LAHO House in Hofit, Israel by Brahma-Architects

Tuesday, July 19th, 2016

Article source: Brahma-Architects

At the onset of this project, when we asked the clients what type of house they were interested in, they replied “a simple house, like a lifeguard tower”.

We designed a one story house spread across a corner lot. Two layers of exposed concrete comprise floor and ceiling with white stucco walls enveloping the house. Sliding the upper plane forward allowed for light penetration at the core of the house as well as air circulation. Between the two layers lies a rectangular tube, separating while connecting inside form out. This unique space houses an entry corridor and art studio.

Repossi Place Vendome in Paris, France by OMA

Tuesday, July 19th, 2016

Article source: OMA

The proposal for the 90 square meter Repossi flagship on Place Vendome divides the store into three distinct spaces – contextually referred to as street, gallery and salon. Based on the idea that the collection of jewelry will be experienced and purchased at three different speeds – fast, slow, very slow – each floor responds to the different paces of shopping.

The ground floor is the most public space. It works as an extension of the street providing a quick experience of the store. The first floor is a gallery, the level where the entire Repossi collection is exhibited. The basement is a salon. The most intimate space of the boutique, it allows customized service for clients and patient exploration of special pieces.

“El Coso” Garden and Business Incubator in Murcia, Spain by Cómo Crear Historias

Tuesday, July 19th, 2016

Article source: Cómo Crear Historias

Known as “El Coso”, the place was a great void at the back of the old part Cehegín (Murcia, Spain). After a big snow storm in the 1950s, many of the houses of this neighborhood collapsed or were damaged, leaving that big, sloped empty space. Besides this, the old part of Cehegín seemed to lack inhabitable gardens. The city needs to breathe through them.

IVG Media Bridge in Munich, Germany by Steidle Architects

Tuesday, July 19th, 2016

Article source: Steidle Architects

On the industrial site directly neighboring the East Railway Station, the IVG Munich developed a concept for the future of the “new media” many of which were already housed in an existing building on the site.  In order to fulfil the desperately needed extra space requirements for the already fully rented 100,000 square meters of building, Steidle Architects studied the zoning and building situation of this area neighboring the well-known “Kunstpark Ost” (artistic park east).

Article source: Progetto CMR

A new chapter in the cooperation between Progetto CMR and HP, the world-famous US high-tech firm: after the offices in Rome, the Italian integrated design practice designed the new HQ in Cernusco sul Naviglio (Milan), the “Innovation Centre”.

Located in an existing building, the new HQ count two floors and one basement, for a total area of 3000 sqm. Each floor has its own dedicated function. As the name suggests, it is not a common office building: besides the office area on the first floor and the technical floor on the basement, the ground floor hosts a large expo area (650 sqm), where the visitor is welcomed to a tour among the most innovative HP products, a journey that also describes its mission and values.
