Eole on the Evergreen campus in Montrouge, France by Arte Charpentier Architectes

Friday, July 22nd, 2016

Article source: v2com

Right at Paris’ doorstep, the Evergreen Campus hosts the Crédit Agricole’s head office. Multiple corporate entities share this space. The entire campus revolves around a central park that acts as its green lung.

The conception of Eole – a 67 000 m² building made in four years – preserves and upholds the site’s environmental vocation: buildings operate in accordance with the HQE norms (high environmental quality), new structures were built according to the BBC norms (low consumption buildings), soft energies usage (geothermic, solar and rain water is reused), 4 hectares of green spaces valorized.

Article source: Kenji Hashimoto Architecture Office

This house is on the top of a hill, which gives you the full view of the Osaka Plain.

Its site is located on a slope and the upper side, across a path, is faced to the woods of a temple.

There used to be an old two-story wooden house and we planned to reserve as much of the former plantation as possible.

68 Social Rental Housing Units, 1 Residence For Physically Disabled Persons in Vigneux-sur-Seine Commune, France by MARGOT-DUCLOT Architectes Associés

Friday, July 22nd, 2016

Article source: MARGOT-DUCLOT Architectes Associés

The project on the city-block E2 appears as a singular and unique object; It signals the idea of a renewal of the main entry point to this neighborhood. This is why the architects chose to experiment with the implementation of two quality materials that are both complementary and opposites: brick for its domestic thickness and for its strong reference to the ground and to neighboring red brick façades; lacquered metal used for the lightness of this material and because it discretely hints at the comfort of the housing units and the use of balconies, while still avoiding their exposure to viewers from the street.

A rammed earth house in Huesca, Spain by Edra arquitectura km0

Friday, July 22nd, 2016

Article source: Edra arquitectura km0

This modern rammed earth house is located in Ayerbe, a little village in the Spanish Pyrenees. Rural migration in the region during middle 20th century led to the disappearance of traditional architecture techniques. This house attempts to awaken the interest of the community and the curiosity about this type of sustainable buildings that are strongly linked to the territory. The project has been inspired by old local earthen buildings regarding their orientation, morphology and the use of local materials.

Villa Melana in Tyros, Greece by S2PiA Architects and 02 Architecture & Mech. Engineering

Friday, July 22nd, 2016

Article source: S2PiA architects

The short story

The project was awarded to us by a family leaving in Athens keen on a new country house in the Arcadian Landscape.

Design started mid-2012 and work on site was completed at the end of 2014.

The program

It all started as a simple snapshot; At a very steep site with clear view towards the sea a holiday retreat protects its inhabitants from the sun heat and the strong winds while soothing the senses under the moonlight.

We have placed the building at the only available naturally formed plateau of the site in order to avoid unnecessary groundworks that could spoil the relief.

PKR Residence in Melbourne, Australia by Biasol: Design Studio

Friday, July 22nd, 2016

Article source: Biasol: Design Studio

Located in Melbourne’s leafy suburb of Ivanhoe, this once traditional family home has been transformed by the Studio into a modern interpretation of a Hamptons’ style of living – an aesthetic that combines a relaxed sophistication with airy elegant living.

Our client’s brief was to create a modern light-filled home that encouraged their love for entertaining and casual living. To meet their requirements, we designed a spacious open-plan home that embraced the abundance of natural light, to not only make it welcoming but also visually impressive and highly functional.

Seoul Urban Womb in Daebang-dong, South Korea by Architects For Urbanity

Friday, July 22nd, 2016

Article source: Architects For Urbanity

Cityscape

The site is located at Daebang-dong, where U.S. army base ‘Camp Grey’ had been located for 55 years until the retrocession in 2007. Located adjacent to this site was Seoul Women Shelter which accommodated prostitutes, runaway dementia elders, and vagrants from 1962 to 1998. The shelter was converted to Seoul Women Plaza. This is a symbolic place where tragic division of the Korean peninsula, poverty and hardships of woman in the era is accumulated and conveys the agony of Korean modern history. The purpose of this project to turn this gloomy and ‘deathlike’ space into a place of resurrection, a site of nurturing space that will foster welfare of women and families.
