A Gallery in Tokyo, Japan by Rei Mitsui Architects

Tuesday, September 6th, 2016

Article source: Rei Mitsui Architects

It’s located in an alley close to “Cat Street” near Shibuya, Harajyuku and Omotesando.

The original exterior design was not so bad as the one of 45 years ago. Presumably it was designed by an competent architect. So, as for the exterior, we intended not to change a lot and to show the original design purely.  Actually, we only removed balconies and replaced  two sliding windows with fixed large windows.

Tecnomec Workshop House in São Paulo, Brazil by PAX.ARQ

Tuesday, September 6th, 2016

Article source: PAX.ARQ

As a result of a particular programmatic condition, the workshop-house project was conceived to host a residence, a high-performance mechanical workshop and classrooms in a 260m² terrain located in the Pinheiros neighborhood, São Paulo.

The programmatic activities were distributed in a specific way so it was possible to take the greatest advantage from the functional and legal point of view. The result is a separation of the program in three levels: ground-floor, which hosts the mechanical workshop activities, revisions, repairs, part-washing and a dynamometer room for vehicle testing; first floor, where the classrooms, study rooms and bathrooms are located; and second floor, place for the residence.

Busan Opera House in South Korea by moh architects

Tuesday, September 6th, 2016

Article source: moh architects

The new ‘Busan Metropolitan Opera’ sits at the intersection point of the two bridges leading up to the competition site, tying the Opera into the city fabric while at the same time interweaving it with the picturesque waterfront promenade. The ensemble of opera and multifunctional theater further divides the site into a series of differentiated territories, each of which fully draws on the potential of a site suspended between city and sea:

Article source: Architektų biuras G.Natkevičius ir partneriai

The clients are Belarusian businessmen, whose field of activity is related to interior design and curtains. They found the bureau in 2007 and requested to design a family house in Minsk, Belarus. They desired a house which would be designed in a contemporary manner, which was surprising, knowing the eclectic classical style of Belarusian architecture those days.

BIGWICH in Chandigarh, India by Design Equilibrium

Tuesday, September 6th, 2016

Article source: Design Equilibrium

Client Brief

The client wished for an eatery which served vegetarian food in  a comfortable informal setting, a setting which feels and is accessible to all cadres of soceity, where the outlook of the project does not depict or is least suggestive of any certain style or form of interiors. The plain contemporary or industrial design approach was too bland for their taste. So, they put forward guidelines where the interiors should be lively and  reflective of the brand ideology ; affordable food, experimentation and the interiors would reflect a sense of community, equality and bonhomie.

Passivhaus Marlegno in Bolgare, Italy by Marlegno

Tuesday, September 6th, 2016

Article source: Marlegno

Passivhaus Marlegno is a single family house on two levels situated in Bolgare (BG), Northern Italy.

ECO-SUSTAINABILITY is the key word of this project: its structure consists in wooden load bearing walls and floors made of wooden joists assembled without glues, thanks to an innovative construction system called Tavego.

Raw materials come exclusively from Italian PEFC certified forests. This allows Marlegno to take full advantage of the ecological characteristics of a natural material such as wood, reducing GHG emissions and making the interior spaces healthier.

Atelier Nagel in San Sebastián, Spain by Hoz Fontan Architects

Tuesday, September 6th, 2016

Article source: Hoz Fontan Architects

A three floor cubical volume is located next to a late XIX century villa. The new building is linked to the villa by means of a galvanized steel and glass-made set of stairs that allows the cast of indirect natural light not only on the villa, but also on the new atelier, marking the entrance point of both of them. The atelier is defined by a galvanized steel-made framework and by perforated slabs to allow the entrance of natural light. On the other hand, the villa´s terrace is meant to be a view-point on the garden, removing some parts of the railing by selecting the ground materials and filtering the sunlight with sunshaders, softening the transition between the inside and outside parts of the house.
