KuBe House of Culture and Movement in Frederiksberg, Denmark by MVRDV and ADEPT

Friday, September 23rd, 2016

Article source: MVRDV

Today Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark will open the Ku.Be House of Culture and Movement, an activity hub in Frederiksberg, Denmark, which explores the boundaries between culture, health and movement. The project, designed by MVRDV and ADEPT, is the first of its typology; a community space which also focuses on exploring and developing our most fundamental process, movement. Ku.Be facilitates both fixed, and spontaneous programmes. Main volumes define specific tempos of activities, whereas voids are left without a defined use to let users interpret them how they wish and discover new ways to use and get around the building. The activity from inside then spills out into the community as a garden which will offer a variety of interactive environments.

Article source: Bmrg arquitectos

The training facilities of the Santiago Fire brigade are located in the suburban area of the Metropolitan Region, where the volunteer firefighters receive special training, as well as carrying out sports and other recreational activities.

The first variable facing the project was the climate, since the place has sparse vegetation and most training activities take place outdoors, where shade was an essential and scarce commodity

INTRODUCING METAMORPHOSIS & ENERGY SOLIDARITY

Metamorphosis means the transformation of the caterpillar into a butterfly.

Metamorphosis doesn’t mean eradicating the past, but rather integrating the best of the past into our future.

Metamorphosis means privileging writing a story over another.

The Cheongna City Tower in Incheon, Korea by YBGSNA

Thursday, September 22nd, 2016

Article source: YBGSNA

The first issue was achieved by introducing a structural spiral organic element. The vertical solid elevator core of the building is wrapped by a steel spring like spiral element. The spiral element functions as a structural element and as a vertical circulation option. The flexible nature of the spiral enabled us to expand and shrink the thickness of the tower in relationship to structural and functional needs along its vertical section. The constant slope of the spiral enabled the creation of a subtle and almost “natural” organic grace to its monumental presence.

In Vietnam, recent years, the house built in advance in new urban areas is popular. Although these urban areas are often located at beautiful position, the project owners do not often adequately investigate the needs and living habits of Vietnamese when building hundreds villas. They are mostly affected by the French architectural style which makes the buyers often reconstruct the space inside house.
