Dusai Resort & Spa in Sreemangal, Bangladesh by VITTI Sthapati Brindo Ltd.

Thursday, December 22nd, 2016

Article source: v2com

Harbored in serene green hillocks of the tea plantation area in northeast Bangladesh, Moulvi Bazar, “Dusai Resort & Spa” is the first of its kind destination resort in the country.

The complex exudes the essence of a traditional village with its formation along the slope of the hills. Existing trees shape out the setting of the cottages, so that the surrounding nature and contour site remain untouched. The resort showcases a hybrid construction system of traditional tea estate bungalows and standardized concrete construction. The structures sit on slender concrete frames anchored to ground raising the structure above ground. A mixed truss system of wood and metal makes roof framing with soft thatch cover. Local technology and materials with local workmanship have been extensively used here.

Enclave at the Cathedral in New York by HANDEL ARCHITECTS LLP

Thursday, December 22nd, 2016

Article source: HANDEL ARCHITECTS LLP

The Enclave at the Cathedral is a new residential development located on the property of Manhattan’s Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The Cathedral and its surrounding gardens and buildings form an 11.3-acre campus collectively referred to as “The Close.” The new residences sit on the site that formerly housed stone sheds used by skilled masons to cut the granite used to construct the Cathedral. Given the proximity of the new building to the Cathedral, the siting, massing, and design of the building were critical.

MeePark in Beijing, China by LΛTITUDE ARCHITECTURE

Article source: LΛTITUDE ARCHITECTURE

Transformation of an industrial building into a multifunctional space

At the beginning of 2016, BlueFocus Communication Group decided to develop a series of venues in multiple locations across Mainland China. The first was then established in Beijing, at the same location used for the Group’s Headquarters, a former Panasonic factory complex of recent renovation. Such a decision is an unmistakable reflection of the company’s priorities, to evolve in China from a manufacturing power into a creative force, under the leadership of its charismatic Chairman Mr. Zhao Wenquan.

The House In The Grove in Veneux-les-Sablons, France by ARBA

Thursday, December 22nd, 2016

Article source: ARBA

A private house built in a grove near Fontainebleau. The building is compact and its higher floor levels are incorporated into a wooden roof.

When we first visited the garden in which this house was to be built, we came to the conclusion that the challenge would be one of scale. A high or extended building would have blocked and ruined the full view of this charming orchard. And we had to find the right balance between our intervention (the building’s height and ground impact) and the site proper.

Lamborghini Factory in Bologna, Italy by MA2

Thursday, December 22nd, 2016

Article source: MA2

The composition for both proposals are a series of torqued surfaces with composite component assemblies as it main feature. These assemblages are dynamic members of a formal complexity that resonate with the image of speed and the Lamborghini stealth body. Roundabout proposal one is focused on the curvatures of fluid dynamics expressed in solid form. Theses curvatures flow around the monument where the viewer can experience these torqued envelopes through its spaces that it creates.  Roundabout proposal two is conceptualized to resemble features in the current Lamborghini models. The features of interest are the elegance of the engine and vector geometric shelled surface. It combines these elements into a configuration of flight and shelter. In conclusion both operate as a nexus of stealth dynamics and matrix vertices for Lamborghini.
