Undisclosed Location Studios in Arlington, Virginia by Walters Storyk Design Group (WSDG)

Sunday, July 24th, 2016

Article source: Walters Storyk Design Group (WSDG)

When designing their “green” 5,000 sq. ft. Washington, DC-area Victorian home, Matt MacPhail and his wife, Ann Lyles MacPhail, were committed to using sustainable, efficient building techniques and materials.  They also agreed on one rather unorthodox requirement: a professionally designed, acoustically superlative recording studio for their thriving audio production business, News At Eleven Productions.  Located 22 feet below street level in the sub-basement of the MacPhails’ home, their new facility is called Undisclosed Location Studios, a tongue-in-cheek reference to its convenient proximity to the political power centers of downtown DC and the Pentagon.

Article source: ArchiCGI

There aren’t many details in this design, and nothing distracts the mind from comfort and relaxation. With 3D imagery, you don’t need words to prove the uniqueness and effectiveness of your ideas, as visualizations will speak much more. 3D is a perfect way to recreate colors and textures, and, unlike photographic imagery, it can give you exactly what you need for your design project.

Condé Nast Entertainment in New York by TPG Architecture

Wednesday, July 20th, 2016

Article source: TPG Architecture

When TPG Architecture first began working on the Condé Nast Entertainment (CNE) project in 2013 at 222 Broadway in New York City, the designers were given the mandate to create a space that was comfortable, homey and would allow for long work days and nights. The second piece of information that was relevant to the design was implicit, not stated directly: that CNE is one of the fastest-growing division of Conde Nast’s business, with expected growth in employees, revenues, services and product offerings in the next three years.

G.G. Brown Building Addition – University of Michigan in Ann Arbor by Banker Wire

Saturday, July 16th, 2016

Article source: Banker Wire

The design architect of a new building addition and renovation project at the University of Michigan says the firm “pushed the envelope” with the help of Banker Wire.

Banker Wire metal mesh was specified for the railing infill of a new pedestrian bridge, which provides access to the new Center of Excellence in Nano Mechanical Science and Engineering building – an addition to the George Granger Brown (G.G. Brown) Memorial Laboratories building on North Campus in Ann Arbor.

Spanning more than 50 feet, the bridge had a significant impact on the overall design, and as a result needed to mimic the new building’s predominant design feature – a giant LED wall showing abstract samples of active lab work.
