Kossmann.dejong designs the new Canon of Dutch History exhibition in the Holland Open Air Museum, Arnhem

The Canon of Dutch History, the list of 50 topics that summarises Dutch history, comes to life as a new permanent exhibition in the Holland Open Air Museum in Arnhem. Housed in the refurbished entrance pavilion designed by Mecanoo, Kossmann.dejong’s design is imagined as a multimedia film set. The theatrical combination of physical, interactive and audio-visual media with unique collection presentations results in an engaging and fascinating visual narrative. The carefully reconstructed spatial collage of historic icons is interwoven with stories from everyday people, giving visitors an in-depth experience of the past from today’s perspective.

AZ SINT-LUCAS CAR PARK in Ghent, Belgium by ABSCIS ARCHITECTEN

Friday, October 20th, 2017

Article source: ABSCIS ARCHITECTEN

From Ghent’s ring road the first sight of the hospital AZ Sint-Lucas one gets is the multi-storey car park. For this reason the design devotes a lot of attention to the atmosphere and appearance of the site. The project zone is split into two parts, with the high capacity car park distributed over two buildings. This creation of two smaller buildings is effective within the spatial context and the granular size of the hospital campus, and creates a visual axis leading to the hospital.

Thursday, October 19th, 2017

Article source: v2com

The project site is situated between the existing Émile Legault School and Raymond Bourque Arena, both of which are horizontal in form and neutral in character. For this project, it thus became vital for the design of new sports complex to create a visual and physical link between the Marcel Laurin Park (to the north of the site), and the projected green band that will run along Thimens Boulevard.

Weinfelden Fire Station in Switzerland by kit architects

Wednesday, October 18th, 2017

Article source: kit architects

In 2013, the political commune of Weinfelden arranged an open architectural competition for a new single building to house the fire brigade and the Samaritan emergency services; their resources had up until then been distributed over various locations. Out of the 58 participants, it was the «Grisu» project by kit that was the winner. The jury praised the project as a cultivated industrial building. It stands out through its architectural precision and the impact it has in enhancing the overall urban impression of the route into Weinfelden. At the same time, the new building superbly fulfils all the functional requirements of the various blue-light organisations.

Refurbishment of an Apartment in Barcelona, Spain by Allaround Lab

Wednesday, October 18th, 2017

Article source: Allaround Lab

The project is located at a stone’s throw away from the most popular urban park in Barcelona – Parc de la Ciutadella -, amidst Eixample urban surroundings; inside a classical building with high vaulted ceilings and six dwellings per landing. To our surprise, we were left with challenging irregular perimeter difficult to resolve into a functional layout.
