Haussmann Stories in Paris, France by chartier-corbasson architectes

Wednesday, June 7th, 2017

Article source: chartier-corbasson architectes

At 85 Championnet there was an empty plot of land, with a plan that was too convoluted to be constructed in a classic way, like the rest of the street, built in the Haussmann era. The rue Championnet is indeed occupied by a long ribbon of Haussmannian facades all more or less identical.

The building takes place, leaving empty spaces that, in response to the adjoining courses, create views.

The new Illa mountain hut is situated at 2.488 m height in the idyllic surroundings of the Andorran Pyrenees, a place of an extraordinary beauty resulting from the interaction between man and envi-ronment, which gave rise to the characteristic aspect of the existing construction built in the 30’s and whose comprehensive refurbishment and enlargement would be the objective of this project.

Oficentro Asebanacio in San José, Costa Rica by ICESA Arquitectos

Tuesday, June 6th, 2017

Article source: ICESA Arquitectos

The fast-growing Employee Solidarity Association of the National Bank of Costa Rica was in need of a new headquarter. They envisioned not only to build their house, but to create a common roof to shelter institutions with shared values and synergies.

The building is located in Llorente de Tibás, a mixed and varied urban fabric that changes dramatically both in landscape and program on every side of the irregular plot. The east facade faces a National Highway, the northern one faces a commercial street and the south side of the plot borders a sprawled residential community. The building accordingly responds differently to every side, situation that is intensified by the bioclimatic parameters that requested the maximum light from the north and south and thermal reductions from the strong east and west lights. This is contrary to the plot geometry that has the shortest side to the north and a reason why the concrete louvers were proposed as a project feature.

Leo Burnett Office in Singapore by Ministry of Design

Tuesday, June 6th, 2017

Article source: Ministry of Design

Universally considered as one of the pillars of the modern Ad agency, Leo Burnett embodies a rich lineage of contemporary creative thinking infused with age-old heritage and values.

Situated in a free plan space on the 2nd floor of a recently restored conservation building, the journey forms a continuous loop around the office. Rich materiality is found in the concrete floors, bespoke desks forming a checkered pattern of plywood patterns and milky white mirrored epoxy resin flooring. Design features include gigantic graffiti style mural of Leo, anamorphic art and gold-gilded wheel barrows overloaded with trophies.

Bougainvillea Row House in New South Wales, Australia by Luigi Rosselli Pty Ltd – Architects

Tuesday, June 6th, 2017

Article source: Luigi Rosselli Pty Ltd – Architects

Sydney’s planners are considering the return of the terraced house, or row house, as a favoured residential building type.  It is believed the terrace could be one solution to addressing housing affordability; by allowing the subdivision of standard quarter acre blocks of land into narrow strips and building adjoining two-three storey dwellings.
