Paulaner Headquarter in Munich, Germany by Hierl Architekten

Monday, September 25th, 2017

Article source: Eva Herrmann Kommunikation Architektur

The design falls back on the type of courtyard development that is both suitable for giving the Paulaner headquarters an identifiable building and also for making reference to the history of the place and thus continuing the tradition of the former Zacherl brewery. Furthermore, it enables the creation of an administration building with various usages, flexibly mixed, and with variable, largely hierarchy-free occupancy, short distances and compact dimensions. The inner courtyard, as an expressive space and central point of the building, makes it a distinctive location.

Brick Yard 33 1/3 in TAIPEI, TAIWAN by HC SPACE DESIGN / H.C. TAI ARCHITECT INC.

Article source: HC SPACE DESIGN / H.C. TAI ARCHITECT INC.

As the scene blurs into a swirl and time gradually reverses back to the sweet old days, the song New York, New York by Frank Sinatra faded in to this vintage site of Yangmingshan, Taipei, where many US soldiers shared their memories of the 70’s Cold War Era. Far away from home, these warriors temporarily resided in this place; none of them knew if they could get back home again. This place was their only shelter, physically and mentally.

Chapel Mykonos in Greece by Dimitrios Tsigos – Omniview

Monday, September 25th, 2017

Article source: Dimitrios Tsigos – Omniview

The interior design that converted legendary Zorbas Bar to Chapel is part of our strategy to return to our #CycladicRoots. This has to do with giving back to the Cycladic interior and exterior spaces the elementary, indigenous qualities that have been eliminated in the past 40 years in the name of modernity.

Arcs have been traditionally employed in the Cyclades to generate enclosure when there was no concrete. Double arched roofs, a 3d geometry that is defined by arcs in various directions, are the only way to make a building when all you have is stones. The interior space feeling of a double arched roof is remarkable, and it is closely interwoven with Cycladic churches are chapels.

Educational Ensemble Terenten in Italy by feld72

Friday, September 22nd, 2017

Article source: feld72

Houses for children

With the design of an educational ensemble for Terenten in South Tyrol, the Viennese architectural collective feld72 set out important measures for a new concept of a thriving village structure.

Educational ensemble

The idea of the educational ensemble originated from a study in 2005, which involved the local community to develop a holistic concept for the village. Based on the original building of the 1970s, where the school and the kindergarten were housed together, a concept developed over the years which allows both facilities more space and interaction whilst at the same time integrating the existing village library. The educational ensemble opens itself to the village and vice versa – it becomes part of everyday life. A prerequisite for the implementation of this progressive and modern concept was the exemplary educational autonomy of South Tyrol and the very committed teachers involved in the project. The premise was to create an engaging and activating learning environment that encourages discovery, experimentation and research.

Fl2 Apartment in London, England by Archiplanstudio

Friday, September 22nd, 2017

Article source: Archiplanstudio

The apartment is designed as a dynamic space, which takes different connotations through sliding walls that separate the ritual places of living, such as the kitchen and the bedroomThe space acquires a liquid dimension, where the visual cones overlap and stratifyThe different levels of the floor creates a hierarchy between the living and the sleeping areasThe furnishings are all individually designed and develop the idea of tailored space that avoids the general understanding of iconic design brands, connoting the apartment with a strong character and personality. The project pursues pleasure for details, which is expressed in the accurate design of all the elements that are part of it, from lighting to the flat number on the entrance door. The lamps are all custom made and express a personal research around this piece of furniture which can take on a spiritual and sensual character. The viewer must look closely at the work to discover the intimate details, in order to grasp the subtle and evanescent aspects. Pleasure for details, for dimensions, for the authentic and for the light, is the themes the project has faced.

Article source: Tom Munz GmbH, St.Gallen

Initial situation

The cemetery building no longer satisfied the requirements for interfaith use. The perimeter of the new hall for public viewings and funeral services was limited by existing areas for graves and urns, and demanded a sacral interpretation together with a suitable atmosphere.

Office in Kiev, Ukraine by Diff.Studio

Friday, September 22nd, 2017

Article source: Diff.Studio

Our main challenge in designing this office interior was to use every centimeter of the space in the most efficient way. We kept all zones needed for productive work: recreational, working and meeting area and also left some space for a kitchen and a small bathroom. We separated the meeting area by a wooden bookshelf with black glossy sliding doors. Working space for young and creative team inspires cohesive work and stimulates creative activity.
