Tuesday, June 5th, 2018

Article source: v2com

L’Accostée House is located in the Adstock area, on the shores of Lac St-François. The clients have lived on this beautiful site for a few years and enjoy aquatic activities on the lake. Since their original house was in poor condition and becoming too small for their growing family, they decided to rebuild while preserving the natural surroundings and keeping the open space on the edge of the lake. They wanted a warm, friendly house that would respect the environment and open onto the lake.

Our province is the perfect testing ground for technical apparel — you don’t have to go far to find inspiration…. Our vision is for B.C. to become the global hub for athletic performance apparel and recreational products, and the first step is to provide a place to cultivate design talent.” − Shannon Wilson With over 300 apparel companies, BC’s lower mainland is a centre of excellence for technical apparel design. The vision for the new Wilson School of Design at Kwantlen Polytechnic University is to be the preeminent school for this industry. The broader purpose of the University is to fuel the local economy by generating a steady pool of talent and expertise in the fields of interior design, fashion marketing, graphic design for marketing, product design, and fashion and technology. Wolke 7 in Grafenegg, Austria by tnE Architects

Monday, June 4th, 2018

Article source: tnE Architects

The “Wolke 7” catering pavilion in Grafenegg Castle Garden (Lower Austria) by the next ENTERprise Architects has been awarded the AIT Award in the category gastronomy.

A decade ago tnE Architects created the Wolkenturm open air stage, one of Austria’s most impressive concert stages and the central performance venue of the annual Grafenegg Festival. In 2015 the architects were commissioned by Grafenegg Kulturbetriebsgesellschaft m.b.H. to redesign the location which is used for catering to events and situated on the path between the Castle Tavern and the Wolkenturm. The AIT Award is the second major honour received by the project after last year’s award of the Client Prize of the Central Association of Austrian Architects.

“Wolke 7”, a place for culinary highlights and coming together in an open-air atmosphere, adds a new dimension to the synergy between the traditional and the contemporary in Grafenegg which reaches far beyond the catering infrastructure.

The house is located on the outskirts of a small village, which has been gain control over the local orchard because of the urban sub-division.

Due to this fact, and leaving any type of orchard reference behind, we are urged to create our own private landscape which should also be personal and with the ability to provide us with rest, delight and joy.
