SPFF – S.Pellegrino Flagship Factory in Bergamo, Italy by BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group

Friday, March 31st, 2017

Article source: BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group

The S.Pellegrino brand identity is deeply rooted in its origin in the San Pellegrino Terme: from the majestic nature, purity of the source and historical heritage, to the century-long development of craft and Italian way of life. As such, the new S.Pellegrino Flagship Factory should not be a radical superposition of new messages or foreign elements, but rather an enhancement and elevatation of the qualities that are already abundant in and around the river valley. BIG proposes an architecture that offers a fresh take on an ancient wisdom, revisiting the classic elements of Italian architecture and urbanism: the arcade, the viale, the piazza and the portico create an architectural environment where production and consumption, nature and architecture, outside and inside, and making and enjoying are integrated to elevate the experience for visitors as well as S.Pellegrino staff.

The Smiley Academy designed by Istanbul based Slash Architects is a unique clinic via its plain but yet surprising style where the greenery is involved within the dynamic, comfortable, living place.

The Smile Academy is a human based designed clinic altering the perception of a clinic being an uncomfortable, scary place and offering a peaceful environment for both the visitors and staff instead. Having these features, this policlinic creates a new style of “health space” for the city.

Literary Inn in Paraty, Brazil by Jacobsen Arquitetura

Friday, March 31st, 2017

Article source: Jacobsen Arquitetura

The Project consists of a reform of a traditional hotel in the historical center of Paraty with relevant limitations to preserve the Historic and Cultural Patrimony and replacing the stigma of the previous development with a thematic hostel (with a differentiated atmosphere that continues to characterize the actual way of living e local hospitality). Given these circumstances we were inspired to create a cozy atmosphere using few materials that unite the environments for visual continuity, and that at the same time provides privacy for the guests. The Pousada Literária is the oficial hostel for Paraty International Literary Festival – FLIP.

Article source: Shift architecture urbanism

Matryoskha House transforms an early 20th century townhouse into two high-end apartments by radically opening it up. Situated in the center of Rotterdam, the house was in a derelict state due the previous owner’s conversion of it into a sub-standard workers’ hotel. Bothered by the neglect, a neighbor acquired the property and gave Shift architecture urbanism the commission to give it an extreme makeover.
