This architecture possesses two functions: a confectionary shop and a concert hall. Both exterior and interior can change their atmosphere according to the two different functions as well as acoustics. In other words, this architecture has a “double face”. Also the client wanted use wood for the interior design to enhance the image of the shop, since Hokkaido is a leading forestry area.

The project is located on a long, narrow strip of land partially occupied by a five-story building, in the traditionally working-class Belleville district of Paris. A significant piece of the neighborhood’s heritage and the site’s unifying building, it has been rehabilitated and its base hollowed out to allow passage.
This house is a private commission made by a young couple who chose a difficult plot on a hill with an inclination of 42 degrees, in front of the Mediterranean Sea with breathtaking views. The task has been to integrate the house within the magnificent landscape that surrounds it and to direct the livable spaces towards the sea. The literal and mythological meaning of the lantern is highly significant throughout Asian history—it leads you through the dark, showing you the way and indicating the beginning and end of a journey. Neri&Hu’s radical transformation of an existing five storey building in Seoul, South Korea, into a grand flagship store for leading Asian skincare brand Sulwhasoo is inspired by these notions of the lantern. The building was designed by Korean architect IROJE and built in 2003. Celebrating the roots of the brand, Neri&Hu wanted to develop a concept with strong connections to Asian culture and traditions, ultimately allowing customers to discover the wealth of Asian wisdom that underpins the Sulwhasoo ethos.
