Casa Central in CABA, Argentina by ESTUDIODAYAN

Friday, November 24th, 2017

Article source: ESTUDIODAYAN

The ideas that promoted took the aesthetic decisions of this project are related to the intention to reinterpret the uses of the neighbourhood and the aesthetic functional expectations of the owner. Until some decades ago the area where the work was implanted was filled with mechanical workshops, industrial sheds and workshops of heavy and light smithy. Some of them survive the passage of time and are known in the area. The owner, naturally had expressive intentions linked to industrialization, to the idea of “loft” and rationalized construction. This diversity of spices is joined to generate a single unifying concept. What was a concept today is this work: low maintenance, wide and flexible spaces, industrial language but avant- garde composition, die of uses and adaptability of growth, of minimalist and conceptual volumetric , articulated, of used spare parts in automotive mechanics but of architectural innovation, of intentional rusticity and precision sought, of external coldness and interior warmth; and ever changing facade.

A3 – Advanced Architecture Apartments in Sofia, Bulgaria by STARH

Thursday, November 23rd, 2017

Article source: v2com

Advanced Architecture Apartments are harmoniously incorporated into the context of their environment. Two starting points—the mountain and the city, set the overall architectural concept. The plot reserved for A3 is in the border area, where the city and the mountain overflow into one. Lines and clear borders are blurred in smooth and soft forms, allowing everyone to determine exactly where and how to perceive shape and space. Situated in one of the most contemporary areas of Sofia—Bulgaria Blvd., A3 is designed to be relevant, contextual and avant-garde. Some of the most modern and interesting buildings in Sofia are exactly here. On the other hand, a very dominant element of the environment is the mountain, peeking in the future building. The combination of these two powerful components results in a dynamic and modern shape of the building, without harming the function.

Bach with 2 Roofs in New Zealand by irving smith architects

Thursday, November 23rd, 2017

Article source: irving smith architects

New Zealand was the last landmass to be inhabited, and then deforested with unrivalled speed. Its new cleared landscapes are still so young they shift, when they fail new native trees grow. It might take a hundred years or more, but buildings that participate in this shift could one day inhabit near-original forest. This is something new, for New Zealand architecture was established and has remained in clearings. To inhabit its original forest landscape, architecture must understand existing context rather than generate new landscapes, it must be soft, patient and ready to change; as we exhibited at the 2015 Prague International Architecture Festival entitled Soft-Context:Soft-Architecture.
