Gunung Sahari House in Jakarta, Indonesia by WEN Urban Office

Thursday, October 12th, 2017

Article source: WEN Urban Office

Gunung Sahari House is located in an urban high-density area in Central Jakarta on a 3-by-30-meter strip of land located between an existing house owned by the client’s family and the main access street to the site. The architects are asked to design a single-occupancy house that includes all of the basic amenities and a studio space. While the site is strategically located within the community with easy access to public transportation and facilities, the site’s unique shape and narrow access point bring several challenges to the design process from determining spatial placement of programs to planning the construction process.

Article source: MuuM

D Café is designed under the concept of providing a social interaction space for employees of the corporate campus of Doğuş Automotive in Şekerpınar. While simplicity, human scale and transparency are inviting the users to explore, it softens the solid impression by integrating building with landscape, and offers a humble communication medium.

Champagne Maturing Facility in Somló, Hungary by Ekler Architect

Thursday, October 12th, 2017

Article source: Ekler Architect

The third part of the Somló winery complex is the fermentation facility where the long-term storage, maturing and bottling of champagne takes place. Its plans were made later than those of the other buildings, and its character is consequently somewhat different. It is another artificial hill of a building, but the narrow plot only allowed for the construction of a mere slice of the fully fledged neighbouring structure. Through the “bubble” windows of its longitudinal walls, natural light enters the innermost spaces and filters down into the cellars.

House Over The Olive Trees in Valencia, Spain by Gallardo Llopis Arquitectos

Thursday, October 12th, 2017

Article source: Gallardo Llopis Arquitectos

A parcel with irregular edges and a steep slope, enthroned upon a broad range of terraces sustaining a large amount of middle-aged olive trees. Over the horizon, the unspoiled views of a valley… the house as a place to relax and unwind, maybe even isolate yourself from the world… an oasis.

This project respects the modulation of the existing terraces and olive trees, standing as a lookout over the tops of these. The landscape scenery is to be perceived as the ideal place, almost in a romantic way. Therefore, the proposal is born from the pursuit of a place from which to admire the vast valley and distant mountains, taking advantage of the natural inclination of the land.

Post Office Site Conversion in Aalst, Belgium by ABSCIS ARCHITECTEN

Wednesday, October 11th, 2017

Article source: ABSCIS ARCHITECTEN

The former post office site in Aalst was a mixture of industrial buildings of the former ‘Filature du Canal’. The “Filatures& Urban Fabric(s): Masterplan stationsomgeving Aalst” masterplan, designed by the Christian Kieckens Architects, started from a site conversion, whilst keeping the main building of the former mill in the Manchester building along the Vaartstraat. The modifications to this building have been kept to a minimum because of organisational and programmatic interpretation, which corresponds with the scale of the building. The facades have been cleaned and re-pointed and equipped with new outside joinery work after its historical model. The building has been renovated on the inside also, in order for it to comply with current regulations, without however interfering with the warehouse’s authenticity.

Cycling & Pedestrian track Lotus Flower in Massarosa, Italy by MICROSCAPE architecture urban design AA

Wednesday, October 11th, 2017

Article source: MICROSCAPE architecture urban design AA

The area covered by the project is part of the northern basin of the lake Massacciuccoli; until the 40s of the twentieth century the area was occupied by the cultivation of rice, then replaced in the late ’60s by the Lotus’ Flowers – today one of the largest camp in Europe. The site was in a state of decay and neglected and the public use was denied. Today with the new pedestrian and cycling path it brings to the light a true “environmental jewel” that opens a new scenario in an area unfortunately largely deteriorated by urbanization strongly pervasive and of poor quality. The Cycling & pedestrian track “Lotus Flower”, in its length of 1km, connects the train station of Bozzano to the centre of Massarosa and it is an integral part of the system of the regional cycling routes dedicated to Giacomo Puccini and places related to his life.
