As one of the largest hubs in Northern Europe, Copenhagen Airport experiences an increase in passenger growth. This requires special measures in relation to control of entry papers and passports, and therefore these trips all take place from a specific departure area of CHP Airport called Pier C.
In this project a solitary sixties bungalow with a gentle sloped roof was refurbished and extended.
A new clear plan was distilled from the existing, with a maximum relation with the garden.
The existing rooms on the northern facade of the bungalow were adjusted in order to form a functional strip, serving as entrance hall, bathroom, storage rooms and a private office space. The living spaces were aligned in an open space along the southern facade, benefiting from large windows that give acces to morning and afternoon terraces and the garden. Two furniture elements divide the open space: a fireplace and a kitchen cabinet.
The collective DIY-housing project Amstelloft consists of spacious loft-apartments. Inspired by dwellings in old schools, churches and warehouses: flexible space with double height which can be turned into living spaces ranging from open lofts to four-bedroom-apartments. The future inhabitants were intensely involved in the realization benefiting the pronounced posibilities and character of the design.
This project located next to Hong-ik University, in Seogyo-dong Seoul, has the art department of reputation. So young artists have settled their small studios in old houses along with the university streets, and influenced arts, design, architecture, literature, and more. Then this town became a huge space for cultural exchange of young people and this activity changed old buildings into a brand new or unique remodeled buildings to fit artists’ lifestyle.
It reflects the client’s personality in a frank manner. Considering that the client, who had dreamt all kinds of mysterious dreams only to overcome them while living in a house built on a rock of mystical forces at a high area of Gangbuk, Seoul, purchased the plot of a fortuneteller and a shaman beside a tall wall in Gangnam, this is a world that must be full of many unexplainable things. In contemporary terms, this building would be considered a mixed-use narrow house, combining a basement studio for the client’s son, a photographer, a reception area, as well as a residence for mother and son that has been equipped with a compact elevator to account for the weakened joints of the elderly.
A subtle dialogue between historical structure and current architectonic accents is being offered at the former Herding spinning mill in Bocholt. The industrial monument has been reinvented for use as a cultural centre. Warehouse for shows, special exhibition areas, event spaces and catering found place at the so called TextilWerk. “Reanimate and reinvent” were the maxims of ATELIER BRÜCKNER. By means of careful architectural surgery the original functional interrelationships of the factory were underlined. The language of form and colour are derived from the old building structure.
Vukovar Water Tower was heavily damaged during Croatian War of Independence and became a symbol of war suffering.
We barely touch the Water Tower… Panoramic elevator leads us to the memorial room in place of the former water tank. In the room, on the screens, we can see documentary videos from the period of the city and Water Tower suffering. A long zig-zag path leads us to the roof, to a viewpoint from which we can see the city which is renewed. And we can see the Danube.
In recent years, investor/owner Bouwinvest and real estate developer Top Vastgoed transformed the outdated buildings along the Amsterdam Nieuwendijk 196 and Damrak 70 and 80 into hyper-modern offices of international retailers such as Zara, JD Sports, and C&A. At the end of this year Primark will open their Dutch flagship store with its entrance in the Beurspassage. In total this project, known as Nowadays, will encompass an impressive 27.500 m2. This is an extraordinary large project for Amsterdam’s retailcenter, and – for Dutch standards – an enormously large and involved renovation of retail property in the city center. The completion of Nowadays, with its closing act the opening of the Beurspasssage and its artwork, will take place by the end of this year. Bouwinvest will have taken its final step in the largest Dutch inner city redevelopment of recent years.
Historical building contains many strong characteristic of space and living and it expresses the significance of the certain age. While facing the renovation of a historical building, our first intention is to “re-specify” the initial gestures of the space in order to remain the condition for the traces of time could be experienced. Therefore, carefully but distinctive inserting an element to shape new spaces become the key issue of this project.
Placed in one of the most exclusive and privileged zones of Monterrey with an incomparable view towards the “Sierra Madre Oriental”, we found the “Sorteo Tec’s House 202”.
The residence is a tribute to Barragán, a great Mexican architect in whose designs abounds the strong presence of the light. This brightness is being reinterpreted in the project with a stunning wall covered in a golden sheet, which is also a tribute to another great artist named Mathias Goeritz.
Its shinning gives the home a magical touch that extends across the entire building, like a modern Domus Aurea.
