Vukovar Water Tower was heavily damaged during Croatian War of Independence and became a symbol of war suffering.
We barely touch the Water Tower… Panoramic elevator leads us to the memorial room in place of the former water tank. In the room, on the screens, we can see documentary videos from the period of the city and Water Tower suffering. A long zig-zag path leads us to the roof, to a viewpoint from which we can see the city which is renewed. And we can see the Danube.
In recent years, investor/owner Bouwinvest and real estate developer Top Vastgoed transformed the outdated buildings along the Amsterdam Nieuwendijk 196 and Damrak 70 and 80 into hyper-modern offices of international retailers such as Zara, JD Sports, and C&A. At the end of this year Primark will open their Dutch flagship store with its entrance in the Beurspassage. In total this project, known as Nowadays, will encompass an impressive 27.500 m2. This is an extraordinary large project for Amsterdam’s retailcenter, and – for Dutch standards – an enormously large and involved renovation of retail property in the city center. The completion of Nowadays, with its closing act the opening of the Beurspasssage and its artwork, will take place by the end of this year. Bouwinvest will have taken its final step in the largest Dutch inner city redevelopment of recent years.

Therefore, carefully but distinctive inserting an element to shape new spaces become the key issue of this project.
Placed in one of the most exclusive and privileged zones of Monterrey with an incomparable view towards the “Sierra Madre Oriental”, we found the “Sorteo Tec’s House 202”.
The residence is a tribute to Barragán, a great Mexican architect in whose designs abounds the strong presence of the light. This brightness is being reinterpreted in the project with a stunning wall covered in a golden sheet, which is also a tribute to another great artist named Mathias Goeritz.
Its shinning gives the home a magical touch that extends across the entire building, like a modern Domus Aurea.
Za’abeel Park has been designed to showcase Dubai’s status as a regional center for the development of high-technology and IT industries through a unique mix of educational and recreational facilities. The development of these facilities within a large scale garden-park setting has created a multi-faceted urban space within the city center for both residents and visitors alike. This urban idea is fundamental to the “new face of Dubai” and the future development of the city within an international context. Within this spirit, the proposed “Emblem” tower for Za’abeel Park should be expressive of the confluence of these regional ideas, energy, and culture which define the modern city with an underlying emotional reference to a more universal iconography.
At an elevation of 9,000’ above sea level, the site of this modern chalet is an alpine meadow at the base of an inclined ridge 4,000’ below the summit of one of North America’s highest mountain peaks. The property, surrounded by a Lodgepole pine forest, includes a sensitive wetland ecosystem at one end and the remnants of an exploratory pit mine at the other. The main space of the three-bedroom, three-bath family retreat is glazed on three sides allowing a blurring of inside and out and providing expansive views of the rugged mountain ridge beyond and the meadow below.
Free-Space Is A Pre-Fabricated, Modular, System Of Components That Can Be Assembled, Disassembled, And Reassembled Into Many Different Configurations, In Order To Create Many Different Kinds Of Structures. These Structures Can Be Used As Very Functional Places Such As Pavilions, Or They Can Be Developed Into Various Kinds Of Non-Functional Sculptures. All Of The Structures Can Be Made From Bolting Together Two Panel Types. Both Panel Types Are Curved To An Eleven Foot Radius And Are Four Feet Wide, And Eight Feet Long. Each Of Them Is Made From Three Curved Steel Pipe Frames, Which Are Connected Together With A Series Of Wood Slats. The Slatted Panels Can Be Bolted Together End To End In Either A Horizontal Or Vertical Orientation. If The Panels Intersect Anywhere In The Structure, They Can Also Be Bolted Together At That Intersection. If The Panels Are Used To Create More Functional Structures Like This Shade Pavilion, Solar Panels Can Be Attached To The Curved Slatted Panels (In The Appropriate Location) In Order To Provide Solar Electric Power For Use In And Around The Pavilion. A Personal Shade Pavilion Is Shown Here With A Solar Panel Attached To One Of The Curved Slatted Panels. A Storage Cylinder, Two Lounge Chairs, A Dinning Table, And A Hammock, Are Placed Under The Shade Canopy For Use As A Special Summer Retreat Place.
The project involved the rehabilitation of a former boarding school built in the late nineteenth century, in the area of Cerro Alegre in Valparaíso. In a slope and with access to two pedestrian streets, the building is located above the Dimalow promenade overlooking it with its main facade while releasing a backyard towards the Caracoles passage.
