CT HOUSE in Bassano del Grappa, Italy by Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin

Sunday, December 25th, 2016

Article source: Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin

This renovation project has involved a detached house integrated in an urban context located in the outskirts of Bassano. It’s a house built on 3 levels with large windows overlooking the garden. The spaces were reorganized and elegant natural materials inspired by the years of construction of the house, were used throughout. The addition of unique pieces of design makes it more contemporary, while maintaining its original identity at the same time. A sole wooden flooring  levels out all the surfaces and the use of soft yet firm tones colours conveys the feeling of a warm atmosphere despite the wide spaces and the white of much of the finish.

Moai Building in Seoul, Korea by L’eau Design

Sunday, December 25th, 2016

Article source: L’eau Design

Easter Island has almost been erased from history as it has no clear documentation of its past. Mysterious Moai statues are the only evidence of civilization. I gained a similar impression of Samjeon-dong, Seoul. Modern Moai at Samjeon-dong began with the consideration of a symbiotic structure for a city, including housing created by stacking commercial facilities and residential units on the everyday cultural ground.

Carlisle Street Extension in Adelaide, Australia by SANS-ARC Studio

Sunday, December 25th, 2016

Article source: SANS-ARC

The Carlisle Street extension is a foray into a new-Australian vernacular. Familiar materials and form are used with a higher-consideration to context and passive design, exploring a vernacular for the modern-day. The extension is restrained and simple; a volume of space that is light-filled and expansive yet private.

The ARCHITECTURE AS A TRANSFORMING AGENT

The reconciliation between tourism and communities has transformed Lake Lanalhue into a natural, economic and political resource. We are aware of being part of  our own time and place, in the Arauco province  where tense ancestral and  historical demands are taking place,  a complex period in many aspects, and instead of avoiding the implications that this entails, we decided to face this period by contributing from what we know best, and this is to act from within the territory with the architecture that makes us the most sense, that is the architecture whose action transforms and summons the encounter of worlds that at times seem so distant, but that share a specific place of the planet, a common place in the Cosmos.

Jil Sander New Store in Berlin, Germany by Studio Andrea Tognon Architecture

Friday, December 23rd, 2016

Article source: Studio Andrea Tognon Architecture

As if to honour its German roots, high-end fashion brand Jil Sander introduced it’s new retail design at the flagship store on the swanky Kurfürstendamm thoroughfare in Berlin. Occupying a ground floor unit of a landmark structure built in 1900 with an ornate art nouveau façade, the new aesthetic, created by Milan-based practice Andrea Tognan Architecture, is almost defiantly modern and understated, and clearly extrapolates Jil Sander‘s clean designs. Geometrical forms of the square and the rectangle largely define the premises, along with more fluent shapes that convey a zen-like sense of spatial harmony, and yet provide functionality at the same time.
