Article source: Keivani Architects

The project is located in one of the apartment block of residential complex. during the design, we considered two essential factors to develop the concept of Mehr Khaneh interior design. The first factor is the client’s interests in the Persian civilization, culture, and values, namely the metaphors of Mithraism and sun. The second factor is the artistic character of the client, which had to be reflected in design.

Da Chang Muslim Cultural Center in Hebei Province, China by Architectural Design & Research Institute of Scut

Tuesday, November 1st, 2016

Article source: Sunshine PR

Cultural architectures have always been academician He Jingtang’s “specialty”.

Project Dachang National Palace is no doubt his another masterpiece. Located in Dachang Hui Autonomous County, Langfang, Hebei province, the project is supposed by the local government to be an iconic design, introducing Dachang’s particular culture and enhancing the soft power of the city. The national palace is thus endowed with multiple functions, serving not only as the recreation center of the city, but the essential cultural site for the introduction of local religion and history as well. It has undoubtedly brought lots of challenges to the designer, because of the special ethnic composition, historical context, religious belief, complex functional requirements of the site and the setting of a cultural landmark.

THE BOSTON BUTT in Mumbai, India by ARK / Reza Kabul Architects

Saturday, October 29th, 2016

Article source: ARK / Reza Kabul Architects

Located in the historic Kala Ghoda district of South Mumbai, The Boston Butt is an all American barbeque diner with a southern soul. For the decor, chef and restaurateur Siddharth Kashyap along with his partners Karna Shinde and Nishant Rao, approached Ar. Reza Kabul who created a confluence of regional styles from the Dixie States into the design. The interior walls of the two-level restaurant set the backdrop for the space in a grungy plastered texture. Photographs, signage and mirror frames from the Prohibition Era accent the bare walls. The bevelled window panes are a manifestation of the late 18th century architecture of the French Quarters in New Orleans. Influenced by the predominant lumber industry in the Southern American States, the use of wood dominates the interior elements of the space such as flooring, seating and accessories. The lower level is designed to host families with its wooden dinner tables and seating, while the upper level hosts the livelier section with the bar and plaid wrapped corner couches. A bright red tractor hood not only adds color to the space but also doubles up as the DJ console. The wall mounted papier-mâché busts of a ram, deer, and boar create a focal point at the upper level. All in all The Boston Butt, the city’s first smokery and charcuterie, aims at delivering the finest food and ambience of the Dixie states!

This project is significant for its seamless spaces and ingenious cabinet making.

Michelangelo Olivieri has conceived walls as containing spaces, in order to achieve greater purity.

The kitchen presents well-defined volumes and cabinets which include all the structural elements, such as household appliances and kitchen tools, in a white and black palette that blends with the wood shades.

Scape House in Victoria, Australia by Andrew Simpson Architects

Saturday, October 29th, 2016

Article source: Andrew Simpson Architects

“All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” – Pablo Picasso

This project for a family coastal residence is located on a stunning isolated site in eastern Victoria on former farmland. The design is an investigation of how an idealised conception of “house” is transformed by its context and use. The site has extraordinary qualities: harsh prevailing winds of the Roaring Forties; sloping site; and sublime panoramic views from Cape Liptrap to Wilson’s Promontory. The residence required maximum flexibility as a beach home that could accommodate varying sleeping needs – anything from a single guest to burgeoning family summer holidays.

Bridge house in Tannay – Vaud, Switzerland by Christian von Düring architecte EPFL SIA

Saturday, October 29th, 2016

Article source: Christian von Düring architecte EPFL SIA

The challenge of this project was to integrate a large program on a relatively narrow plot while maintaining usable outdoor surfaces. An additional concern, was that the access to the plot being from the south, a solution had to be found to manage an entrance while ensuring privacy for the indoor and outdoor spaces.
