The BRAC bookstore and cafe was conceived in May of 2009 and immediately established itself as a central point in Florence for all those with a passion for contemporary art and cuisine. The formula of a ‘library with a kitchen’, a breath of fresh air in the city, combines the passions of the owners Sacha and Melisa: a chef specialized in vegan and vegetarian cuisine with a love for comics and illustration and a bibliophile with an interest for all contemporary art forms (theatre, dance, cinema, photography).

House in Bernolákovo, Slovak Republic by ZITNANSKY GONDA architects

Monday, April 23rd, 2018

Article source: ZITNANSKY GONDA architects

The project was not a standard investor-architect assignment as one of the project’s authors is also the house investor along with his partner. Both had dreamt of a non-standard housing in a town or smaller village, which would have its intimacy and be protected from the usual street noise.

The house’s aim was to use the potential of the surrounding gardens and its view of the surrounding countryside. Inside, an emphasis is placed on the functional, material and artistic aspects to create an inspirational environment for creation, as both investors are creative professionals.

The Line Sukhumvit 101 in Thailand by Openbox Architects co.,ltd

Monday, April 23rd, 2018

Article source: Openbox Architects co.,ltd

– Architectural design

“The Line 101” has been created based on the key idea, “Living between the Line”. The expression, like in literature, refers to hidden, deeper meaning, beyond words, or visual appearances. Inspired by Davenport’s famous, modern painting, “The Waterfall”. The demographic group of residences, young, free, active and successful, are perceived as vertical stripes of colors, expressing themselves so lively, vividly and uniquely, to create a unique, dynamic work of art on the skyline of Sukhumvit.

Evolving from a much-loved mobile coffee outlet within RMIT University, the design captures the temporary origins of Little Bang Espresso but also maximises exposure within a tight footprint. The solution unfolds/unpacks the space; the door that becomes a menu wall, a pivoting coffee bench and counter units that couple together.

Article source: HASA Architects

HASA Architects has completed works to transform a derelict horticultural glasshouse at Highgate Bowl in North London into a new event space. The project, inspired by the frame and construction of the original building, explores the possibilities of this forgotten piece of the city by bringing it back into use through a series of small-scale interventions. These sensitive interventions take the form of new external and internal pathways, as well as rooms and furniture pieces that guide visitors through the large open bays of the glasshouse while framing views of the surrounding landscape and Bowl beyond.

Norhouse in Bandung, Indonesia by Aaksen Responsible Aarchitecture

Friday, April 20th, 2018

Article source: Aaksen Responsible Aarchitecture

Urban residential development increases rapidly with the advancement of life expectancy in urban areas. Aside from expensive land prices and low quality of life, it is not difficult to find dense settlements in the middle of the city. Most of those have no access to big vehicles, even though there is a road nearby.

Located in a dense settlement with a narrow alley as the only access, precisely in Jalan Pahlawan, Bandung, West Java – Indonesia, NOR House is a residence of a couple, Sisca, and Ovian. The two-floor house was completed in early 2018. The name of NOR House itself is taken from their children, Adara Kaila Eleanor and Sophia Cyrilla Eleonora, who have the word nur or light in Arabic as part of their name.
