Neu Leopoldau in Vienna, Austria by feld72 Architekten ZT GmbH

Sunday, November 6th, 2016

Article source: feld72 Architekten ZT GmbH

Smart environment for young and young-at-heart home living on the outskirts of the city in a post-industrial complex. Strategies for creating community: this starts with identification through the design and continues with the quarter’s connecting ring structure and the belt formed by the wall surrounding the property, with special communication areas reflecting the layering principle of the building. A residential building as smart module of social life: tiered and networked communal zones and communication areas create the village in the buildings, and special extra spaces for whatever self-development is to be defined in the surrounding homes connect the private with the (semi-) public sphere. A building as a very flexible structure able to inspire the imagination and joie de vivre.

CLOYS Apartment in Paris, France by Atelier 56S

Sunday, November 6th, 2016

Article source: Atelier 56S

An ancient parking lot was divided into different apartments in the heart of Paris. To transform this raw surface into apartments, the project management wanted the structure to keep its industrial aspect.

The main challenge was to take advantage of the unique light source: South-oriented and situated in one of the apartment’s angles. The idea was to compact the night area to benefit from a higher flexibility in the living space. Peripheral wood furniture, serving as library, kitchen, desk and storage, was made to create space and visual continuity in the whole apartment. A mobile wall can occasionally be used to host friends.

The concrete beams and ceiling remain to keep the spirit of the place, while lessening the resonance thanks to a wooden slats-made false ceiling.

Searching for a sustainable alternative to the urban sprawl, REFRESH* has developed a model of infill-development that sensitively increases density of urban areas, which is branded ‘my gardenhouse’. Located in a Brisbane inner-city suburb, this project is an example of how such a gardenhouse has transformed the often unutilised backyard into a multi-generational home to cater for different life stages.

The new Da Vinci College in Rosendaal, The Netherlands by Ector Hoogstad Architecten

Sunday, November 6th, 2016

Article source: Ector Hoogstad Architecten

The Da Vinci College in Roosendaal, in the south of the Netherlands, moved into new premises at the start of the present school year. Ector Hoogstad Architects has designed a light, spacious and above all adventurous building that feels and functions like a city in miniature. The school offers a mix of academic and vocational qualifications (VMBO and Praktijkschool in Dutch) to about a thousand pupils. Each pupil has a home base in one of the “clubhouses” scattered around the school, alongside a variety of practical rooms and communal facilities. All these spaces are ingeniously connected by a network of streets, squares and gardens, stairs and terraces. In line with the philosophy of the school, equal weight is attached to ensuring a safe learning environment and challenging the pupils.

In 2014, we were required to design a villa located at Shenzhen Bay in Nanshan district, Guangdong Province, China. Client Mr. Xu is a Teochew, who is from Chaoshan Teoswa where is the linguistic and cultural region in the east of Guangdong, China that is developing into a single metropolis. As we know, most Teochew people like design in malacosoma rich, bronze color and other heavy fine wood carvings, decorated in a warm atmosphere, which might not incompatible with our philosophy. Even more, Mr. Xu had already have one design plan which was being under pre-construction. He complaint that he was not that satisfied with that previous design. At the beginning, we were worried that he might not that into our design, but he indicated ‘modern’ was actually what he was looking for.

Article source: Geometrium DSGN

The design project of an apartment in Moscow, near the Alexeevskaya metro station with the total area of 90.2 sq.m was carried out for the young family with 6-year-old child. Our customers have been living in Sweden for a long time, so that they wanted the interior of the new Moscow apartment to be made in a modern sleek Scandinavian style.

The living room and the dining hall are one room. At the window we placed a dining table made of solid Suara saw cut on the black metal legs. Two lamps, that are located above it provide its functional coverage. This table we deliver from Indonesia ourselves.
