55 HOUSING UNITS in LYON, FRANCE by PETITDIDIERPRIOUX

Thursday, October 15th, 2015

Article source: PETITDIDIERPRIOUX

“Single-level homes”, la Duchère

The operation resulted from a competition (“Archi’nova, comment habiterez-vous demain?” – Archi’nova, living in tomorrow’s world) launched by the Alliade group. The programs are built independently on the plot and share a central garden. The adopted morphology is diversified, urban in nature and the apartments of considerable quality: wet rooms are naturally lit and conservatories allow outdoor spaces to be incorporated during the summer months. A new typology is proposed: that of “single-level homes” in which a floor level corresponds to a single apartment. Taking up little floor area, they provide the vertical qualities of a detached house: four open faces, an outdoor space and considerable partitioning freedom as well as condominium-owned shared services.

Tanatorium in Zaragoza, Spain by SALAS Architecture + Design

Thursday, October 15th, 2015

Article source: SALAS Architecture + Design

The Tanatorium frames very important feelings of its users through the evocation of God and the cavern. An steriotomic architecture formed by a perforated enveloping is born from earth to protect humans when they say goodbye to their deceased people. Though a formal gesture, this concrete cavern opens in diagonal direction to the sun, worshipping this primitive god.

Tuesday, October 13th, 2015

Article source: v2com

Located on the shore of the Gate Lake, on a slightly sloping land of almost 80 000 pi2, the chalet takes place on the edge of a cedar wood with majestic mature incline trunk trees. Although the footprint of this two-storey building is substantial, because the roof slope follows the landscape the impact of it site integration is minimal.

Concept

The hope of this client is to live in a house just like a renovated warehouse. The type of houses is diversified into various kinds, and such a house is prevalent on the ground of financial terms. However, there’re problems as regarding heat insulation capacity and construction to convert a warehouse into a house. As a result, it costs the same amount as new construction. Therefore, we built a new house like a renovated warehouse pursuing diversified and productive open spaces.

The site is surrounded by rice field where wind blows through well.

This is one of the areas with much quantity of wind-generated electricity in Japan, and this project is based on the concept of “wind”.

Planning is layout corridor of the ring shape as an image that wind around and each room volume as blade of the windmill.

Consequently, even while maintaining the independence, there is a sense of unity through the corridor and courtyard.
