Residenza Le Stelle in Locarno – Solduno, Switzerland by Buzzi Architetti

Thursday, September 10th, 2015

Article source: Buzzi Architetti

Solduno is a neighbourhood on the outskirts of the historical centre of Locarno, southern Switzerland. I grew up a few steps from here, in an area of eclectic early 20th century bourgeois mansions and brick condos from the 1960s. Today most of those early-to mid 20th century buildings, have given way to more recent anonymous edifices.

Art of mind in Barcelona, Spain by SUSANNA COTS INTERIOR DESIGN

Thursday, September 10th, 2015

Article source: SUSANNA COTS INTERIOR DESIGN

Talk of simplicity when we have to refer to mind is one of the most difficult challenges faced by humanity. The mind and feelings are part of this design, as well as the profession that develops within its walls. The design concept of this office works on the feeling of embrace, protection and wrapping.

ROOF EXTENSION in Vienna, Austria by TRIENDL UND FESSLER ARCHITEKTEN ZT OG

Thursday, September 10th, 2015

Article source: TRIENDL UND FESSLER ARCHITEKTEN ZT OG

Increasing urban density:
In addition to numerous technical specifications, the specific structure of the historic building, a very tight budget and local building regulations constitute a strict corset for this roof extension. The basic idea for the design was to reinterpret the spatial qualities of a classical attic. Due to the limited corridor space the apartments have been designed as a zoned “ Loftspace” on two levels. Deep cut in terraces, stairways and spatial requirements of the existing structure (chimneys, fire walls, etc.) give every apartment its own individual quality. From the public entrance floor up to the private gallery level, the functions organize self-explanatory within each unit. All apartments are accessed from the inventory level and spatially structured as duplex apartments. This allows all units north/south or east/west orientation.

LOW BUDGET BRICK HOUSE in Bisamberg, Austria by TRIENDL UND FESSLER ARCHITEKTEN ZT OG

Wednesday, September 9th, 2015

Article source: TRIENDL UND FESSLER ARCHITEKTEN ZT OG

The clients wished for an inexpensive house with a maximum of spatial qualities. The volume was conceived as a introverted courtyard typology, responding to local development structures. The shut roadside facade expresses the desire for a private retreat on the outskirts of Vienna. The L – shaped floor plan offers diverse spatial relationships and creates an exciting space continuum around the patio together with garage and workshop. The double high kitchen forms the heart of the house and the covered terrace forms its generous continuation to the outside. The workshop may be expanded to a small apartment in connection with the upper floor. The monolitic structure consists of 50 cm thick monolithic brick walls and ensures an optimal indoor climate without additional insulation.
