House and studio in Orlandia, Brazil by Spbr arquitetos

A proper balance as a goal

Two activities: live and work. Its two corresponding spaces, house and studio, have been shaped historically, as two quite clear architectonic typologies.

Our first goal to this project was to combine both in a single small building, firstly keeping their programmatic independence and secondly achieving a proper balance in the whole [not a house with a studio appended, neither a studio with an added house].

It means, we would like to integrate both programs in such a way that both could live together with no conflicts. The studio should not be disturbed when the house is empty. In the same way, the house should not be degraded by an uninhabited studio.

SOPP Lillehammer – 2016 Youth Olympic Games Student Housing in Norway by Kebony

Friday, September 18th, 2015

Article source: Kebony

Lillehammer, the site of the upcoming 2016 Youth Olympic Games, is soon to open the doors for a new development of student accommodation, which – in line with ‘passive house’ standards – has put environmental credentials at the forefront of the design and selection of construction materials. The development, designed by Henning Larsen Architects and SGB, is named SOPP (short for Studentsamskipnaden i Oppland), as it will house students in its 360 apartments across four blocks. The whole development is clad in Kebony’s sustainable, durable wood that will offer resistance to the chilly, windswept climate of the mountainous, lakeside Gudbrandsdal region.

We proposed a medical complex accommodating an emergency area, a pharmacy and doctors’ offices within the ‘Sur Plaza’ shopping center to attend the needs of the South seaside city during the summer. Due to its holiday environment, we proposed a festive and friendly image that will help reduce the stress produced by going to a hospital facility.

Vijayawada Garden Estate in India by Penda

Friday, September 18th, 2015

Article source: Penda

The project features a high-rise residential development for ‘pooja crafted homes’, who is seeking for and “outside of the box – design” and “a natural living experience” for the residents in all their projects. In an age of mass-production and a certain conformism in the building industry, we try to use modern construction techniques to bring back a level of individualism and flexibility for the inhabitants of a highrise.

Automobilzentrum AMAG, Dübendorf by Fischer Architekten AG

The additively organised operational procedures of Switzerland’s largest garage operation are reflected in the building’s elongated structure. It seamlessly integrates itself into the broader context of the resident \”Empa – Materials Science and Technology\” research institute and its large-scale structures – a first step towards the further densification of the Giessen site. In addition, the new building serves as a noise barrier for residential buildings on the southern side against the busy Überlandstrasse.

The New Bauhaus Museum in Dessau, Germany by Penda

Art and Technology: A New Unity

Resting on the description of Bauhaus by Walter Gropius:”” Only perfect harmony in the technical function and in the proportions of form can produce beauty”, our design for the New Bauhaus Museum is a fusion of clear geometry and technological aspects , that offer a great amount of flexibility and integration to Dessau’s City Centre. Life in a city is multiple, ambiguous and in constant change. Alternating climate seasons and weather conditions, different demand at day or night, various events and happenings throughout the year. Our aim was to create a Museum that connects and interacts with those multiple settings of daily life in Dessau in a very direct and responsive way. Due to its ability to transform itself, it can react to various needs within the City Park and offers the possibility to become a connecting hub, which shapes the community around it and links its visitors to the vision of the Bauhaus era.
