Where most of the fitness centers around the world follow set rules of planning and interiors, Moksha was inspired by a will to define a new language for exercise and training centers.
The client desired an extension to the existing gymnasium including a Spa and Spinning studio. This was to be housed in the basement. As a result, the architects were faced with the dual problems of limited space and limited budget.
Integrated on a housing facility from the mid 90’s, the apartment is a result of a rampant construction period, and maybe for this reason, it was organized in a very uncommon way: the most intimate area was facing to the landscape and the noise; while the collective zone enjoyed the calmness of the backyard.
In 2006 the municipal council of Olsztyn, Poland, launched an open competition regarding public investments around the Ukiel Lake as a call for directions to formulate future plans of urban development of the area surrounding its waters.
An extensive stock of mature trees forms a green envelope around the land and buildings at Chilestieg in Rümlang. The 6,500 square-metre site is bounded to the north by Chilestieg and to the east by Glatttalstraße. The low-density residential development baumschlager eberle have planned here reveals a sensitive response to the texture and arrangement of the surroundings. The location and orientation of the three buildings with their three or four storeys take due account of the structures in the vicinity. The buildings are carefully embedded in the gentle, flowing landscape around the site, and the generous spacing between them underlines the park-like character of the development.
“Lluèrnia – Fire and light Festival” is an event that takes place in the town of Olot during one night every November. More than 50 light installations adorn the streets and squares during this special annual tradition of the region.
TO TSAI TEAM ROOM is located at Alexander Soutsou str in Kolonaki, one of the most lively areas in Athens. Kolonaki is a very dense zone located in the south of lycabetus hill, between the archeological/ institutional center of Athens and the anarchist zone of Exarchia that occupies the west part of the lycabetus hill. It’s consider to be the most expensive area of Athens and its residents are well educated and wealthy. Because of its multi-use character ( residential, offices, retail, entairtenment, art, institutional) it’s consider to be the part of the city that never sleeps. People from all the Attica basin along with a lot of tourist are visiting the area in order to visit the newest culinary experimentation or to visit an exposition in one of the multiple galleries and design stores in the area. In fact Kolonaki is an area the open to experimentation in design, lifestyle, architecture, urban culture.
Following the partial demolition of a social housing units, this project expresses a link between the historical district and the vale of “Dervallières” while re-introducing an appropriation of the nearby green spaces.
KAAN Architecten and VORM will be building a large new campus building at the University of Tilburg. With the Education and Self-Study Centre (OZC), comprising a floor area of 11,000 square meters, the university aims to provide better facilities for students and therefore further increase the quality of education. Works will be complete by the autumn of 2017.
Zaha Hadid Architects has been selected to build the Sberbank Technopark at the Skolkovo Innovation Centre, Moscow, Russia. Considered to be Russia’s Silicon Valley, Skolkovo will be home to the laboratories and campuses of Russia’s fast developing IT, biomedical, energy, nuclear and space innovations.
