MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology in Lisbon, Portugal by AL_A

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017

Article source: AL_A

MAAT, the new Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, is an outward-looking museum located on the banks of the Tagus in Belém, the district from where the Portuguese great explorers set off. Proposing a new relationship with the river and the wider world, the kunsthalle is a powerful yet sensitive and low-slung building that explores the convergence of contemporary art, architecture and technology.

The new building is the centrepiece of EDP Foundation’s masterplan for an art campus that includes the repurposed Central Tejo power station.

House of Switzerland Alameda Pavilion in Mexico by Dellekamp Arquitectos

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017

Article source: Dellekamp Arquitectos

House of Switzerland Pavilion emerges with the celebration of the seventy years of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Mexico, Dellekamp Arquitectos began to work on the project without a defined program and site, so a modular system was designed based on a triangular grid that allows adaptation to different locations and changing needs of the program, which allowed transformations during the design process. This adaptability feature allows it to be itinerant and a location to multiple sites without damaging the environment.

Bunurong Memorial Park in Bangholme, Australia by BVN

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017

Article source: BVN

Bunurong Memorial Park aims to be a leader in providing memorable settings for a wide range of celebratory, reflective and commemorative events and a valuable community asset.

Working with Aspect Studios, BVN designed a set of distinctive gardens arranged as a connected suite of intimate and public spaces bound by ‘quiet’ buildings with transparent portals that open directly to the garden setting. This series of garden vistas and rooms are in turn linked to the existing lake, now reimagined as the ‘heart’ of a broader network that will include future stages. The widest possible range of reflective and celebratory events, are supported through buildings that include chapels, function rooms, café, florist and service centre. A particularly characteristic part is the pedestrian commemoration bridge which connects the central gardens to the curvilinear outdoor chapel which opens directly to the lake.

Mattos House in São Paulo, Brazil by FGMF Arquitetos

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017

Article source: FGMF Arquitetos

Design a house for a young family was the project’s main point. The steep-sloped site had a unique view to one of São Paulo’s main arterial roads. To use said site to our advantage in the creation of the house’s spaces, the attention to the circulation flows and the leisure area seemed to us like some of the most important questions to be addressed from the very beginning.

FF HOUSE in Jalisco, Mexico by HERNÁNDEZ SILVA ARQUITECTOS

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017

Article source: HERNÁNDEZ SILVA ARQUITECTOS

The house is located on a gated community, to the west of the metropolitan area in Zapopan, México. The land is located at the end of the subdivision which you need to access by passing through a roundabout with an old laurel.

The project was developed in a short period of time; however the construction took a little longer than expected but the approved design did not suffer any changes because the owners always respected the original idea.

Champs-Meunier Sud in Le Mont-sur-Lausanne, Switzerland by Richter Dahl Rocha & Associés architectes SA

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017

Article source: Richter Dahl Rocha & Associés architectes SA

The southern part of the newly built Champs-Meunier compound holds 3 buildings. These are scattered following a terrace scheme and sit in a rural context whilst still standing on the border of the city center. The 47 flats are each composed of 3 to 5 rooms and are transversal. The flats are distributed around a central core, allowing the scheme to be simple and efficient.  Moreover, large balconies outspread the living areas, thus permitting the interior / exterior boundary to vanish.

Min Hwi Jeong in Ulsan, South Korea by On Architecture INC

Article source: MasilWIDE

This is a project looking for another architectural alternative to the housing market located in the innovative cities that are currently being developed.

The building site that is located in the Innovation City is located in the T intersection. The location of shopping mall is good, but for the location of the house is unsecure of the privacy. To solve this problem, we use the cube block as a screen device on the residential sector. As a commercial building, at night, it had an unique lighting feeling and gaining awareness became an advantage. Also, it’s located about 15m lower side of the road and the opposite side has an advantage of the view of urban landscapes and mountains. Considering this surroundings, at the 1st floor was external court and the entire floor was glass mass to give an enjoyment to the users. But, the biggest problem is that if the street block is form as a commercial type house only, then the 2nd floor and 3rd floor has a problem of lighting. A house should to be bright and naturally ventilated to maintain comfort. To secure the privacy of 1st to 3rd floor to the south, we formed a cube block as a screen device and on 3rd floor, we made sky garden in external court for the lighting and natural ventilation. Especially, on 3rd floor, between 2 external court can be a living room, dining room, or home bar and by placing a wall in kitchen, it can be an independent space or one space. Also, in this multi-purpose space, we installed a folding door around the external court to make as a another one space. The kitchen is the center space when the owner of third floor generation comes. The kitchen communicates with the sky garden, multi-purpose space, and living room. The attic separates the 2 areas into 2 spaces and make as a connecting passages. This connecting passage connects the attic with the bridge between the external court and the external deck and connects with the sky garden too. Through the center of the sky garden, various spatial program can be form and hopefully there will be new ways of communicating amongst family members too.

‘CONSORCIO’ Branch Concepcion in Chile by Enrique Browne & Asociados Arquitectos

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017

Article source: Enrique Browne & Asociados Arquitectos

The rainy city of Concepción, is located in the mouth of the Bío-Bío River, 520 Km south of Santiago. It has aprox. 220.000 inhabitants, but its threshold spans reaches some 630.000 people. The highlights of its economy are the elaboration of steel and the wood industry, both on wide exporting booms. We were asked to design a branch of the ‘Consorcio Nacional de Seguros’, National Insurance Consortium, in a corner site, in front of the only historic and antique church in Concepción, whose façade had been unfortunately reconstructed after an earthquake. Furthermore, it had a front fenced square that impoverished its quality and public character.

Dupli Casa in Near Ludwigsburg, Germany by J. MAYER H. und Partner, Architekten

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017

Article source: J. MAYER H. und Partner, Architekten

The geometry of the building is based on the footprint of the house that previously was located on the site. Originally built in 1984 and with many extensions and modifications since then, the new building echoes the „family archaeology“ by duplication and rotation. Lifted up, it creates a semi-public space on ground level between two layers of discretion. The skin of the villa performs a sophisticated connection between inside and outside and offers spectacular views onto the old town of Marbach and the German national literature archive on the other side of the Neckar valley.

Located in Jinjiang Road and Shenyang Road at the junction, Chengdu Vanke Jade Park was to create a sales center with interesting shape and filled with unique temperament.

The design objective in creating this architecture was inspired by a box, with facades constructed from thousands of stainless steel plates embracing tension in contemporary art. A kind of grand feeling is poured from the facade when the night is coming.
