Single Family Housing Correnteza 21 in Lisboa, Portugal by HUMBERTO CONDE

Friday, July 31st, 2015

Article source: HUMBERTO CONDE

This intervention seeks to maintain only the two main existing facades of the building, at North and East, given the high degree of deterioration of the overall volume. Although the existing building is not a remarkable architectural example and with construction quality, contributes to the cohesion of the urban image of the set to which it belongs, so the maintenance of facades allow the continuity of the dialogue between the building and the context in which it operates.

COFCO Ruifu Residence in Beijing, China by W. Architectural Design Co., Ltd.

Thursday, July 30th, 2015

Article source:  W. Architectural Design Co., Ltd.

An Unforgettable View

As Wang Changling–a renowned poet of the Tang Dynasty– illustrated in his work Shige (Chinese for Poetical Patterns), the art of writing a poem involves three individual layers: landscape description as the physical layer; inception of emotions from the landscape as the emotional layer; and the expression of one’s own emotions as the emphatic layer. The integration of these three layers into the shaping of space is a refined interpretation that suits perfectly the tier-by-tier progressive atmosphere created for the COFCO Ruifu Residence.

Memorial at Utøya, Norway by 3RW Arkitekter

Thursday, July 30th, 2015

Article source: 3RW Arkitekter

When a big tree in the forest dies, an organic process that creates what we know as a clearing begins – open room in the otherwise dense forest. We want to develop the memorial on Utøya as such a clearing; forming a clear spot and highlight all the beautiful landscape qualities that are already in place and in contact with the surrounding environment.
