The Railway Site in Horsens, Denmark by AFR ThinkingUrban

Saturday, July 11th, 2015

Article source: AFR ThinkingUrban

All too often modern cities are divided up into single use zones like housing or education, or industry. Yet the most successful older communities throughout the world are almost all mixed uses. In addition, the way we move and interact in modern thinking is divided up into a kind of traffic apartheid – walking, cycling, driving.

A Coruña for rent? in Spain by Egue y Seta

Saturday, July 11th, 2015

Article source: Egue y Seta

Looking for a flat to rent? Read between the lines:

Spacious and bright = empty and painted in white.
Great potential = really needs to be renovated!
Charming = Old, really old!
Functional or cosy = small.
For couples: small
Singles: really small.
Ideal for students: barely habitable
Diaphanous Loft: You´ll sleep in the kitchen
Arrange a visit: Not even in photographs it looks ok
Parquet Flooring : The rest of the finishes is not worth commenting.

The Real state market for rental housing is highly competitive, full of vices and most of its advertisement pieces sound like siren calls. None of these, nevertheless, lack explanation: Property owners are bound to invest with caution, they need to hit the target of the particular taste of a potential but undetermined client, but most importantly they seem to be obliged to prescribe furniture and finishes tested against the most indolent of lifestyles.

Villa G in Sorengo, Switzerland by SCAPE

Saturday, July 11th, 2015

Article source: SCAPE

The G family home in Sorengo, on the edge of Lugano in Ticino, is the category of villa that Palladio-1 put forward as a contrast with the town house.  The site, a long narrow strip of land on a steep slope, is part of a hilly area, bordered on its short sides by a private road and another property.  On the long sides it is fringed by another site being developed and a wood that is legislatively bound.  To enjoy the fine view of the mountains and part of the lake, the ground level must by raised by three metres.

Friday, July 10th, 2015

Article source: anD + MOTOElastico

The lobby of an office building is a place where people transits and pass through; it is a ‘not-place’, almost by definition, as the airport waiting area, almost devoid of their own identity. It is an ‘object’ almost alien, home to almost strangers or people who have closely job relationships.
